Sabah State Legislative Assembly
The Sabah State Legislative Assembly ( Kadazandusun: ''Langga' Tinukuan Pogun Sabah'', ) is a part of the legislature of Sabah, Malaysia, the other being the governor of Sabah. The assembly meets at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly Building at Likas in the state capital of Kota Kinabalu. This unicameral legislature currently has 73 seats representing state constituencies elected through a first-past-the-post electoral system across the state. Like at the federal level in Malaysia, Sabah uses a Westminster-style parliamentary government, in which members are elected to the legislative assembly through general elections, from which the chief minister and the cabinet are appointed based on majority support. The chief minister is head of government, while the governor acts as head of state. Aliakbar Gulasan (Jawi: علي أكبر بن ۢولاسن; born 8 February 1971) is a Malaysian politician of mixed Pakistani- Murut-Dusun descent from Sabah, East Malaysia. He is an official member cum Sabah state liaison chairman of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). At the party level, he is a member of the PAS Central Working Committee representing the state of Sabah. Perikatan Nasional (PN; ) is a Malaysian Parliamentary group, political coalition consisting of Right-wing politics, right-wing and Far-right politics, far-right political parties. The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (; abbrev: UPKO) is a multiracial political party based in Sabah, Malaysia. The party was rebranded from its previous party's name, United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation using the same UPKO acronym; which was a widely known Kadazan-Dusun- Murut based party in 2019.
