SV SVV
SV SVV, short for Sportvereniging Schiedamse Voetbal Verenigingen, is a Dutch football (soccer), football club from Schiedam. Founded in 1904, the club won the Dutch national football title in 1949. In 1991, the professional branch of SVV and neighbouring Dordrecht'90 merged to form FC Dordrecht. SVV continues to play in amateur leagues. History The club was founded in 1904 as ''Excelsior'', which was renamed to ''Voorwaarts'' (Forward) two years later. The name was again changed, to SVV this time, when the club entered the Dutch national football competition. SVV was a people's club, and its players came mostly from the local residential area De Gorzen. SVV won promotion to the Eerste Klasse, the highest national division at the time, in 1948. The first season at that level immediately saw the club winning the title. This allowed SVV to face other Eerste Klasse champions for the national title. Tweede Divisie
Tweede Divisie (; ) is the highest amateur (and historically the lowest professional) football league in the Netherlands. It was established in 1956, together with the Eredivisie and the Eerste Divisie. Between 1956 and 1960 and between 1962 and 1966, the league consisted of two divisions, Tweede Divisie A and Tweede Divisie B. The league was disbanded in 1971. Six clubs were promoted to the Eerste Divisie (AVV De Volewijckers, De Volewijckers, FC Eindhoven, VVV-Venlo, FC VVV, Fortuna Vlaardingen, PEC Zwolle, PEC and Roda JC Kerkrade, Roda JC), while the other eleven teams became amateur clubs. 1989–90 Eerste Divisie
The Dutch Eerste Divisie in the 1989–90 season was contested by 19 teams. Schiedamse Voetbal Vereniging (SVV) won the championship. New play-off system From this year onwards, only one club promoted directly to the Eredivisie, instead of two. Also, one of the Eredivisie-clubs (the number 16 of 18) now had a chance to avert relegation. Promotion was no longer certain for the runner-up of the Eerste Divisie. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. Winston Lloyd Bogarde (born 22 October 1970) is a Dutch retired professional footballer. He was known for his physical strength, and played mostly as a centre-back although he could occasionally play as left-back. He had spells at Ajax, Barcelona and Chelsea.
