Rzewuski Family
The House of Rzewuski () was an important Polish szlachta, noble family (magnates) in the 17th century during the era of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. History The family originated from the village Bejdy near the town of Łosice in the Podlasie region. They used the Krzywda coat of arms. Members of the family received the title of Count and held several notable positions in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, most notably, that of a hetman (thrice). Starosta
Starosta or starost (Cyrillic: ''старост/а'', Latin: ''capitaneus'', ) is a community elder in some Slavic lands. The Slavic root of "starost" translates as "senior". Since the Middle Ages, it has designated an official in a leadership position in a range of civic and social contexts throughout Central and Eastern Europe. In reference to a municipality, a ''starosta'' was historically a senior royal administrative official, equivalent to a county sheriff or seneschal, and analogous to a '' gubernator''. In Poland, a ''starosta'' administered crown territory or a district called a '' starostwo''. In the early Middle Ages, a ''starosta'' could head a settled urban or rural community or other community, as in the case of a church starosta or an '' artel'' starosta. Count Jan Mikołaj Chodkiewicz ( Lithuanian: Jonas Mikalojus Ksaveras Chodkevičius; 14 December 1738, Gdańsk - 2 February 1781, Chernobyl) was the Starost of Samogitia and Veliuona; Count of Shklow and . Biography His father, , was the Voivode of Brest-Litovsk. In 1757, after completing his studies at Vilnius University, he was appointed a Colonel to His Majesty. From 1758 to 1759, he fought in the Seven Years' War on the side of the French Royal Army. In 1764, he became a Colonel and Counselor in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. He was also elected to the Convocation Sejm, representing the Duchy of Samogitia, and was an Elector for Stanisław August Poniatowski. That same year, his troops raided the Radziwiłł palace complex in Biała Podlaska. |

Ludwika Maria Róża Rzewuska (1744–1816) was a Polish Szlachta and writer. She was the youngest daughter of Wacław Rzewuski and Anna Lubomirska. On 1 January 1766, she married Jan Mikołaj Chodkiewicz in Podhorce (Pidhirtsi Pidhirtsi (; ) is a village of about 1,000 inhabitants in Zolochiv Raion, Lviv Oblast, Zolochiv Raion, Lviv Oblast of Ukraine, located about 80 km east of Lviv, 17 km south of Brody, 60 km north west of Ternopil. Eveline Hańska (; 6 January – 11 April 1882) was a Polish people, Polish nobility, noblewoman best known for her marriage to French novelist Honoré de Balzac. Adam Rzewuski
Adam Rzewuski (, tr. ; 1801 – April 17, 1888) was a Polish-Russian general. He was born in Pohrebyshche in the Kiev Governorate of the Russian Empire (present-day Ukraine). He participated in wars in Poland and the Crimea. He died in Kiev. He was a son of and Justyna née Rdułtowska, his brother was Henryk Rzewuski. He was married three times. In 1829 he married Alexandra Petrovna Lopukhina, daughter of Pyotr Lopukhin. After her death in 1852, he married Anna Dashkov, daughter of Dmitry Dashkov, with whom he had a daughter, Katarzyna. After the death of his second wife, he married in 1860, with whom he had three sons: Stanisław, Adam Witold and Leon. He also had a natural son, Adam.
