Rudersdal Municipality
Rudersdal Municipality () is a part suburban, part rural municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') located on the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It covers an area of 73 km² and has a population of 57,342 (1. January 2025). The distance from Copenhagen City Hall Square is approximately 20 km. The western part of the municipality is served by the Hillerød radial of the S-train network while the eastern part is served by the Coast Line. Administratively Rudersdal Municipality belongs to Region Hovedstaden. On 1 January 2007 Rudersdal municipality was created as the result of 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, consisting of the former municipalities of Søllerød and Birkerød. Its mayor is Ann Sofie Orth. Municipalities Of Denmark
Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). The Capital Region of Denmark, Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Region of Southern Denmark, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark Region, Central Denmark 19, Region Zealand, Zealand 17 and North Denmark Region, North Denmark 11. S-train
The S-Bahn ( , ), , is a hybrid urban rail, urban–suburban rail system serving a metropolitan region predominantly in German language, German-speaking countries. Søllerød
Søllerød is a suburban district of Rudersdal Municipality in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. The original village, one of the oldest in the area, is perched on Søllerød Hill on the south side of Søllerød Lake. It merged with the neighbouring village of Øverød to the north and the modern district of Holte to the southwest in the middle of the 20th century and now forms part of the Urban area of Copenhagen, Greater Copenhagen area. Most of the local landmarks are concentrated in a well-preserved village environment centred on the old village green, village pond and on Søllerødvej (Søllerød Road). Zealand (Denmark)
Zealand ( ) is the largest and most populous islands of Denmark, island in Denmark proper (thus excluding Greenland and Disko Island, which are larger in size) at 7,031 km2 (2715 sq. mi.). Copenhagen County () is a former county ('' amt'') on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. Flemming Lassen
Flemming Lassen (23 February 1902 – 18 February 1984) was a Modernist architecture, Modernist Denmark, Danish architect and designer, working within the idiom of the International style (architecture), International Style. Among his most notable buildings are libraries and cultural centres. He was the brother of Mogens Lassen, also an architect. Early life Flemming Lassen was born on 23 February 1902 in Copenhagen into an artistic family. His father Hans Vilhelm Lassen was a decorative painter and his mother, Ingeborg Winding, was a painter. He trained as a mason before completing his education at the Technical School. Arne Jacobsen
Arne Emil Jacobsen, Honorary Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects, Hon. FAIA (; 11 February 1902 – 24 March 1971) was a Danish architect and furniture designer. He is remembered for his contribution to functionalism (architecture), architectural functionalism and for the worldwide success he enjoyed with simple well-designed chairs. Søllerød Town Hall
Søllerød Town Hall (), now renamed Rudersdal Town Hall, was built for the former Søllerød Municipality which in 2007 became part of Rudersdal Municipality, combining Søllerød and Birkerød. The building is located in Holte some 19 km to the north of Copenhagen's city centre. Designed by Danish architects Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen, it was completed in 1942. Architecture Like his Aarhus City Hall, Jacobsen's Søllerød Town Hall was inspired by the modernist Swedish architect Gunnar Asplund, especially his Functionalist extension to the City Hall in Gothenburg which was completed in 1936.
