Ruby-Spears Productions (also known as Ruby-Spears Enterprises) was an American entertainment production company founded by veteran writers and '' Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!'' creators, Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, in 1977, before closing in 1996. Specialized in animation, it was headquartered in Burbank, California, with another branch in Rome, Italy. History Ruby and Spears started out as sound editors at Hanna-Barbera and later branched out into story-writing for such programs as '' Space Ghost'' and '' The Herculoids''. In 1969, they were assigned the task of developing a mystery-based cartoon series for Saturday mornings, the result of which was ''Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!''. They left Hanna-Barbera shortly after because "they were having a hard time moving up" and wanted to be "associate producers". Taft Broadcasting Company (also known as Taft Television and Radio Company, Incorporated) was an American media conglomerate based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company was rooted in the Taft family, family of William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States. In 1879, William Howard's brother, Charles Phelps Taft, purchased two afternoon newspapers in Cincinnati, ''The Times'' and ''The Cincinnati Daily Star'', merging them into the ''The Cincinnati Times-Star, Cincinnati Times-Star'' in 1880. It was during the tenure of the merged paper's second publisher, Hulbert Taft, Hulbert Taft Sr., son of Charles and William Howard's half-brother, Peter Rawson Taft II, that the newspaper also became involved in broadcasting. Joe Ruby
Joseph Clemens Ruby (March 30, 1933 – August 26, 2020) was an American animator, writer, television producer, and music editor. He was best known as a co-creator of the animated ''Scooby-Doo'' franchise, together with Ken Spears. In 1977, they co-founded the television animation production company Ruby-Spears, Ruby-Spears Productions. Ruby would work with Spears and would co-create several other shows including, ''Fangface'', ''Dynomutt, Dog Wonder'' and ''Jabberjaw'' among others. Ruby would meet Spears in 1959 at Hanna-Barbera, when the studio was being interviewed by Life Magazine and the two would start working together on animated shows. Before Ruby founded Ruby-Spears he would work with at several studios including Walt Disney Animation Studios, Hanna-Barbera, DePatie–Freleng Enterprises and with Sid and Marty Krofft. Ken Spears
Charles Kenneth Spears (March 12, 1938 – November 6, 2020) was an American animator, writer, television producer and sound editor. He was best known as a co-creator of the ''Scooby-Doo'' franchise, together with Joe Ruby. In 1977, they co-founded the television animation production company Ruby-Spears Productions. Spears and Ruby created many other shows such as Jabberjaw, Dynomutt, Dog Wonder, and Fangface. Spears also worked on the shows Sectaurs, Mister T and Alvin and the Chipmunks. Spears career began in 1959 when he started to work for Hanna-Barbera as a sound editor, at Hanna-Barbera. Spears met Ruby when ''Life Magazine'' was interviewing members at the studio and they worked together on animated projects. Spears worked for several other companies before Ruby-Spears such as DePatie–Freleng Enterprises and Sid and Marty Krofft. In 2020, Ruby died on August 26, and Spears died on November 6, 2020, from Lewy body dementia three months later. He was 82 years old. ...

It's Punky Brewster
''It's Punky Brewster'' is a 1985–86 animated spin-off of the live-action television sitcom ''Punky Brewster''. It was animated by Ruby-Spears Productions. The show uses the same premise and main cast as its parent series, but also includes a magical sprite named Glomer. 26 episodes were produced over two seasons. Synopsis The series featured the voices of the original ''Punky Brewster'' cast as their respective characters. A new character, Glomer (voiced by Frank Welker), was added as the " leprechaun gopher". He came from Chaundoon, a city at the end of the rainbow and possesses all of magical powers.
