Roscommon GAA
The Roscommon County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Roscommon GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Roscommon. The county board is also responsible for the Roscommon county teams. The county football team was the third from the province of Connacht to win an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC), following Galway and Mayo. It competes in the Connacht Senior Football Championship, which it has won 23 times. The team won back-to-back All-Ireland SFC titles in 1943 and 1944. Crest From November 2024, the crest was altered to replace the original black-faced sheep with one of the white-faced wooly-necked found in Roscommmon. Dr Hyde Park
Dr. Hyde Park (''Páirc de hÍde'' in Irish language, Irish) is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) stadium in Roscommon, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Built in 1969 and officially opened in 1971, it is the home of the Roscommon county football team, with Athleague being the traditional home for the Roscommon county hurling team. Named after Gaelic scholar and first President of Ireland, Douglas Hyde, the ground previously had a capacity of about 33,612, which was reduced to 18,500 after a nationwide inspection of facilities by the GAA in 2011. Remedial works were planned to raise the capacity to 25,000. At present, the capacity is 25,000. At the start of 2023, a refurbishment project began, which saw the ground's capacity increase to 25,000. 1943 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1943 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 57th staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. Limerick return to Munster championship after 2 year absence. The Wexford county hurling team represents Wexford in hurling and is governed by Wexford GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest-tier competition for inter-county hurling in Ireland and has been contested in every year except one since 1887 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 1887. Four Roads Hurling Club
Four Roads Hurling Club are a hurling club from County Roscommon. They are the most successful team in the history of the Roscommon Senior Hurling Championship with 37 titles. They also won the Connacht Senior Club Hurling Championship in 1977 due to a walkover from Kiltormer and again 1988 when they defeated Abbeyknockmoy on a scoreline of 3-5 to 1-8. On both occasions of representing Connacht at the All-Ireland semi-final stage, they encountered Wexford opposition. First up was the star-studded Rathnure side of 1978 where they put in an impressive performance before going down by 2-20 to 2-8, and in 1989 they suffered defeat on a scoreline of 2-19 to 0-9 to eventual champions Buffers Alley. Together with emerging twice from Connacht, the club also played in nine other finals. The Roscommon Senior Hurling Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised by Roscommon GAA among the top hurling clubs in County Roscommon, Ireland. Since 2008, the champions qualify to the Connacht Intermediate Club Hurling Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship. Before 2008, the Roscommon champions qualified for the Connacht Senior Club Hurling Championship. Four Roads are the title holders, defeating St Dominic's by 3-12 to 2-11 in the 2024 final. The Kerry county football team represents Kerry in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Kerry GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association.
