Robert Rodriguez
Robert Anthony Rodriguez ( ; born June 20, 1968) is an American filmmaker, composer, and visual effects supervisor. He shoots, edits, produces, and scores many of his films in Mexico and in his home state of Texas. Rodriguez directed the 1992 action film ''El Mariachi'', which was a commercial success after grossing $2.6 million ($5.5 million in 2023 dollars) against a budget of $7,000 ($14,937 in 2023 dollars). The film spawned two sequels known collectively as the ''Mexico Trilogy'': ''Desperado (film), Desperado'' (1995) and ''Once Upon a Time in Mexico'' (2003). Rodriguez directed ''From Dusk till Dawn'' in 1996 and developed its From Dusk till Dawn: The Series, television series adaptation (2014–2016). He co-directed the 2005 neo-noir crime thriller anthology ''Sin City (film), Sin City'' (adapted from the Sin City, graphic novel of the same name) and the 2014 sequel, ''Sin City: A Dame to Kill For''. San Antonio ( ; Spanish for " Saint Anthony") is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the most populous city in Greater San Antonio. ''Spy Kids'' is an American media franchise centered on a series of spy action comedy films created by Robert Rodriguez. The plot follows children siblings, who discover that their respective parents are spies and become involved in an espionage organization when their parents go missing. Background Influences ''Spy Kids'' was influenced by elements of the James Bond movies, through the genre of family films. Rodriguez has stated that the first movie was "a fusion of Willy Wonka and James Bond", while the second was the "'' Mysterious Island'' and James Bond mix". The spy organization in the films is called the OSS. These initials are from the Office of Strategic Services, a former U.S. intelligence organization during World War II which later evolved into the CIA. Carlos Gallardo (born June 22, 1966) is a Mexican actor, producer, occasional screenwriter and director. Gallardo frequently collaborates with his friend, director Robert Rodriguez. Life and career Gallardo was born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, to a Mexican father and an Irish mother. Gallardo's first taste of fame came with the feature film '' El Mariachi'', a critically acclaimed film renowned for costing US$7,000 to make. The film won the 1993 Sundance Film Festival, and won Gallardo an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature, an accolade he shared with Rodriguez.
