Lebon Patisserie & Café
The Lebon Patisserie & Café () was a historic pastry shop and café in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul. Originally opened in 1810, it went out of business in the 1960s. Two entrepreneurs named, Şakir Ekinci and Abdurrahman Cengiz, revived the business and name in the 1990s. This second Lebon closed at the end of October 2022 because of an increase in rent. History Lebon Patisserie & Café was established in 1886 by Edouard Lebon. Lebon was a French chef at the Embassy of France in Constantinople (present-day Istanbul), the capital of the Ottoman Empire. He left the embassy kitchen, and established the bakery, located at Grand rue de Péra (today İstiklal Avenue), on the corner of "Passage Oriental" in Pera (today Beyoğlu district of Istanbul). Sirkeci
Sirkeci () is a neighborhood in the Eminönü quarter of the Fatih district in Istanbul, Turkey. In the Byzantine Empire, Byzantine period, the area was known as Prosphorion Harbour, Prosphorion ().Müller-Wiener (1977), p. 57 The neighborhood borders to the north the mouth of the Golden Horn, to the west the neighborhood of Bahçekapı, to the east the Topkapı Palace area, and to the south the Cağaloğlu neighborhood. Üsküdar
Üsküdar () is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 35 km2, and its population is 524,452 (2022). It is a large and densely populated district on the Anatolian (Asian) shore of the Bosphorus. It is bordered to the north by Beykoz, to the east by Ümraniye, to the southeast by Ataşehir and to the south by Kadıköy; with Karaköy, Kabataş, Beşiktaş, and the historic Sarayburnu quarter of Fatih facing it on the opposite shore to the west. Nişantaşı
Nişantaşı is a residential quarter in the Şişli district on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. Nişantaşı quarter has four neighbourhoods: Teşvikiye, Maçka, Osmanbey and Pangaltı. The centre of the Nişantaşı quarter is at the neighbourhood of Teşvikiye, which is separated from the neighbourhood of Osmanbey to the west by the Vali Konağı Avenue and Rumeli Avenue. Osmanbey is separated from the Pangaltı neighbourhood further to the west by the busy Halaskargazi Avenue in Şişli. The neighbourhood of Maçka is immediately to the south of Teşvikiye. Hünkar (restaurant)
Hünkar () is a restaurant in Istanbul, Turkey, founded in 1950 in Fatih and moved in 2000 to Nişantaşı, an upscale living and shopping neighborhood. At the same time, a branch was also opened in Etiler, another upscale quarter. Background The restaurants are owned and run by restaurateurs Talip Ügümü and his three sons, Feridun, Galip and Faruk, while his grandsons are also in the business, all being the third and fourth generation of a chef family. Their grandfather served as chef of the prominent army general and politician Kâzım Karabekir (1882–1948). The founder of the restaurant, father Talip began his career at age eight in Erzurum as dishwasher in "Seher" Restaurant. After three years, he became kitchen-hand. Fatih
Fatih () is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 15 km2, and its population is 368,227 (2022). It is home to almost all of the provincial authorities (including the mayor's office, police headquarters, metropolitan municipality and tax office) but not the courthouse. It encompasses the historical peninsula, coinciding with old Constantinople. In 2009, the district of Eminönü, which had been a separate municipality located at the tip of the peninsula, was once again remerged into Fatih because of its small population.
