The Republican National Committee (RNC) is the primary committee of the Republican Party of the United States. Its members are chosen by the state delegations at the national convention every four years. It is responsible for developing and promoting the Republican brand and political platform, as well as assisting in fundraising and election strategy. It does not have direct authority over elected officials. It is also responsible for organizing and running the Republican National Convention. When a Republican is president, the White House controls the committee. The Republican National Convention (RNC) is a series of presidential nominating conventions held every four years since 1856 by the Republican Party in the United States. They are administered by the Republican National Committee. The goal of the Republican National Convention is to officially nominate and confirm a candidate for president and vice president, adopt a comprehensive party platform and unify the party, as well as publicize and launch the fall campaign. John Glenn Beall Jr. (June 19, 1927March 24, 2006) was an American politician and businessman from the U.S. state of Maryland. A member of the Republican Party, he served in both chambers of the United States Congress for one term each, a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1969 to 1971, and as a member of the United States Senate from 1971 to 1977.
