Record (stylized in uppercase; ), formerly known as Rede Record and RecordTV, is a Brazilian free-to-air television network. It is currently the second largest commercial TV station in Brazil, and the 28th largest in the 2012 world ranking. In 2010, it was elected by the advertising market as the fifth largest station in the world in revenues and the eighth largest network in physical structure. In June 2021, it ranked second among the most watched channels in the country in the National Television Panel, behind only TV Globo. As the main member of the media company Grupo Record, the network is headquartered in São Paulo, where most of its programming is also generated at the Dermeval Gonçalves Theater, and has a branch in Rio de Janeiro, where its telenovelas and other formats are produced at the Casablanca Estúdios (RecNov) complex. Record Rio
Record Rio is a Brazilian television station in Rio de Janeiro. It was founded in April 1992, following the sale of TV Rio by Múcio Athayde and Nilson Fanini to Grupo Record. After the sale, Edir Macedo renamed the station "TV Record Rio de Janeiro." In addition to retransmitting RecordTV's national programming, the station also produces some of Record's programming. History First TV Rio The first TV Rio was on the air from 1955 to 1977, broadcasting on channel 13 VHF. Initially, TV Rio had its own schedule but exchanged productions with São Paulo's TV Record, owned by the Machado de Carvalho family (João Batista "Pipa" do Amaral, founder of TV Rio, was the brother-in-law of Paulo Machado de Carvalho). Record Goiás (channel 4) is a Brazilian television station based in Goiânia, capital of the state of Goiás serving as an owned-and-operated station of Record television network for most of the state. Record Belém (channel 10) is a Brazilian broadcast television station in Belém founded on June 10, 1997. History The license for VHF channel 10 in Belém was granted on August 19, 1988 for politician Jader Barbalho, at the time Minister of Social Security in José Sarney's government, through a company formed by his wife Elcione Barbalho and radio personality and businessman Carlos Santos. Record Brasília (channel 8) is a Brazilian television station based in Brasília, Federal District carrying Record for the Brazilian capital area and its surroundings. Record Bahia Itabuna (channel 7) is a Brazilian broadcast television station in Itabuna, Bahia, carrying the Record network for the southern part of the state. The station is owned-and-operated by Grupo Record, which also controls Record Bahia in Salvador. Record Internacional is a Brazilian pay-TV and free-to-air channel that broadcasts 24 hours via satellite and cable with digital parameters, all in Portuguese.
