Punahou School
Punahou School (known as Oahu College until 1934) is a private, co-educational, college preparatory school in Honolulu, Hawaii. More than 3,700 students attend the school from kindergarten through 12th grade. The school was established by Protestant missionaries in 1841. History From 1853 to 1934, the school was known as Oahu College. Punahou has educated members of the Hawaiian royal family, but is not to be confused with the Royal School. During World War II, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commandeered much of the Punahou campus. Castle Hall, formerly the girls' dormitory when Punahou had boarding students, was used as a command center, buildings were connected with tunnels, athletic fields were used as parking lots, and the library was cleared to become sleeping quarters and an officer's mess. Buster Crabbe
Clarence Linden "Buster" Crabbe II (; February 7, 1908 – April 23, 1983) was an American two-time Olympic swimmer and film and television actor. He won the 1932 Olympic gold medal for 400-meter freestyle swimming event, which launched his career on the silver screen and later television. He starred in a variety of popular feature films and movie serials released between 1933 and the 1950s, portraying the top three syndicated comic-strip heroes of the 1930s: Tarzan, Flash Gordon, and Buck Rogers. In 1983 Crabbe died of a heart attack in Arizona. Early life Crabbe was born February 7, 1908, to Edward Clinton Simmons Crabbe, a real estate broker, and Lucy Agnes (née McNamara) Crabbe, in Oakland, California. Brandon Brooks
Brandon Brooks (born August 19, 1989) is an American former professional football player who was a guard for 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football for the Miami RedHawks and was selected in the third round by the Texans in the 2012 NFL draft. Brooks played four seasons with the Texans, including three as a starter. In 2016, he joined the Eagles in free agency. He played for six seasons with the team, winning Super Bowl LII and making three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2017 to 2019 in the process. He retired after missing 31 combined regular season games over the next two seasons due to injuries. Brandon Brooks (water Polo)
Brandon Brooks (born April 29, 1981), who played water polo as a goalie for UCLA and the 2004 and 2008 United States National teams, was the head coach of the women's water polo team at UCLA until 2017. The women's team won the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship, and one of his players, Courtney Mathewson, captured the Peter J. Cutino Award as the player-of-the year in 2008. On June 3, 2009, Brooks was named the head coach of the UCLA Bruins women's water polo team, having served as its men's and women's water polo team assistant coach. He was also named as an assistant coach to the USA water polo women's senior national team for the 2009 FINA World Championships. Early years Brooks is the oldest in his family of three children. Sean Kern
Sean Kern (born July 11, 1978) is an American water polo player. His position is center forward (two-meter offense). During his water polo career, Kern was a four-time All-American, two-time National Player of the Year, two-time NCAA champion and three-time UCLA scoring leader. After his 1999 season, Kern was honored as the first-ever male recipient to receive the Peter J. Cutino Award. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, he scored 3 goals for the US team. Christopher Duplanty
Christopher David "Chris" Duplanty (born October 21, 1965, in Palo Alto, California) is a former water polo goalkeeper from the United States, who competed in three Summer Olympics (1988, 1992 and 1996) for his native country. He won the silver medal with the US Men's National Team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. In 2001, he was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame. Erik Shoji
Erik Thomas Shoji ( ; born August 24, 1989) is an American professional volleyball player who plays as a libero for ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and the U.S. national team. Shoji was a bronze medalist at the Olympic Games Rio 2016, Paris 2024 and the 2018 World Championship; the 2014 World League and 2015 World Cup winner, and a two–time Champions League winner (2022, 2023) with ZAKSA. Early life Shoji was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Dave, a volleyball coach best known for coaching women's volleyball at the University of Hawaii, and Mary Shoji. Michael Lambert (volleyball)
Michael Allen Lambert (born April 14, 1974) is an American former volleyball player who is a two-time Olympian with the United States national volleyball team. His team finished ninth place at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and eleventh at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Early life Lambert went to Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii along with Stein Metzger. His subsequent partnership with Metzger in the AVP resulted in nine titles. College Lambert played volleyball at Stanford University. He and fellow AVP player Matt Fuerbringer were members of the 1997 NCAA Championship team for volleyball. Christopher W. T. Woo (born December 25, 1957) is an American former competition swimming (sport), swimmer and world record-holder. He represented the United States at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec.
