Proposed Stadiums
The following is a list of stadiums that are either proposed or under construction, with "stadium" defined as a venue that can accommodate sports traditionally held outdoors. The list does not include indoor arenas under construction, some of which can be found at List of indoor arenas by capacity. Entirely new stadiums under construction on the same site as a demolished former stadium, plus those planned to be built on the site of a current stadium, are included. However, expansions to already-existing stadiums are not included, and neither are recently constructed venues which have opened, even though construction continues on part of the stadium. Stadium
A stadium (: stadiums or stadia) is a place or venue for (mostly) outdoor sports, concerts, or other events and consists of a field or stage completely or partially surrounded by a tiered structure designed to allow spectators to stand or sit and view the event. Pausanias noted that for about half a century the only event at the ancient Greek Olympic festival was the race that comprised one length of the stadion at Olympia, where the word "stadium" originated. Most of the stadiums with a capacity of at least 10,000 are used for association football. Other popular stadium sports include gridiron football, baseball, cricket, the various codes of rugby, field lacrosse, bandy, and bullfighting. Many large sports venues are also used for concerts. Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium
Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium (, , ) is a football stadium under construction, it is part of a larger sports complex with an athletics track and field stadium, an indoor arena named the Salle Moulay Abdellah and an Olympic swimming pool in Rabat, Morocco. It was named after Prince Moulay Abdellah of Morocco and was planned to be completed in 2025. The stadium is located 7km from the center of Rabat, the country's capital. The venue was primarily constructed for the use of football (soccer), and it has VIP and hospitality areas with the most recent technological advancements. Nou Mestalla () is a partially built football stadium in Valencia, Spain, intended as a replacement for Valencia's current stadium, the Mestalla. The basic concrete structure of the stadium was built between August 2007 and February 2009, but work was then halted for financial reasons. Following multiple redesigns, all of which reduced the final capacity, construction work eventually resumed in January 2025. The stadium architects are Reid Fenwick Asociados and ArupSport, and the cost is estimated between €250 million and €300 million.
