''The Producers'' is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Mel Brooks and a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan. It is adapted from Brooks's 1967 film of the same name. The story concerns two theatrical producers who scheme to get rich by fraudulently overselling interests in a Broadway musical designed to fail. Complications arise when the show is a surprise hit. The humor of ''The Producers'' draws on exaggerated accents, caricatures of Jews, gay people and Nazis, and many show business in-jokes. ''The Producers'' is a 1967 American satirical black comedy film written and directed by Mel Brooks, and starring Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder, Dick Shawn, and Kenneth Mars. The film is about a mild-mannered accountant and a con artist theater producer who scheme to get rich by fraudulently overselling interests in a stage musical designed to fail. To this end, they find a playscript celebrating Adolf Hitler and the Nazis and bring it to the stage. Because of this theme, ''The Producers'' was controversial from the start and received mixed reviews. It became a cult film, and found a more positive critical reception later. ''The Producers'' was Brooks's directorial debut. For the film, he won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. The Trevor Horn Band
The Trevor Horn Band are an English group based around record producer and bass player Trevor Horn. Horn and others got together as the Producers in 2006, when they included producers Horn (bass and vocals), Chris Braide (keyboards and vocals) and Steve Lipson (guitar), and musicians Lol Creme (guitar and vocals) and Ash Soan (drums). Braide left in 2009 due to work commitments, though still contributed to the band's début album ''Made in Basing Street'', released on 25 June 2012. The Producers is a new wave and power pop band from Atlanta, Georgia. The original line up included Van Temple on guitar and vocals, former Whiteface member Kyle Henderson on bass and vocals, former Billy Joe Royal sideman Wayne Famous (Wayne McNatt) on keyboards, and Bryan Holmes on drums. History Originally formed as a Beatles cover band named Cartoon, they changed musical directions and began performing their own material in nightclubs around the Atlanta area.
