The prime minister is formally appointed by the president of Moldova and exercises executive power along with the cabinet, subject to parliamentary support. Dorin Recean has been serving as prime minister since 16 February 2023 following the dissolution of the Gavrilița cabinet which took place during the same month. Gherasim Rudi (4 March 1907 – 26 June 1982) also Russified as Gerasim Yakovlevich Rud () was a Moldavian SSR politician and member of the Moldovan resistance during World War II. Rudi was born in Sărăței, Rîbnița District. He died on 26 June 1982, in Chișinău. Rudi was the Prime Minister of Moldavian SSR (5 January 1946 – 23 January 1958); until 4 April, the name was Chairmen of the Council of People's Commissars. Rudi signed the ruling concerning the deportation of more than 40,000 of Bessarabian Romanians to Siberia in the summer of 1949. Nicolae Coval (19 December 1904 – 15 January 1970) was a Soviet and Moldavian politician. Biography Nicolae Coval was born on 19 December 1904 in the city of Camenca, Russian Empire (now in Transnistria, Republic of Moldova). Nicolae Coval became a member of the CPSU in 1939; in the period 1940–1945, he served as the People's Commissar for Agriculture of the MSSR. At Congresses I - IV, X - XII of the Communist Party of the MSSR was elected as a member of the Central Committee. Tihon Konstantinov (; 13 August 1898 – 20 January 1957) was a Soviet politician who served as the Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Moldavian SSR from 1940 to 1945. Biography Konstantinov was born in the village Khoroshe of Pavlograd uyezd, Yekaterinoslav Governorate (now in Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine). The village was located by the Samara river, while next to the village there was the estate ''Dobrenkoe''. In the 1938–1940, he was a chairman of the council in the Moldavian ASSR in Tiraspol and a people's deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR. Tihon Konstantinov was the prime minister of Moldavian SSR (2 August 1940 – 17 April 1945) (in exile in Russian SFSR from June 1941 until August 1944). Daniel Ciugureanu (; 9 December 1885 – 19 May 1950) was a Romanian politician from Bessarabia, deputy in Sfatul Țării from Chișinău, Prime Minister of the Moldavian Democratic Republic from –, Minister for Bessarabia in four Romanian Governments, Deputy and Senator, vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies, vice-president and President of the Senate of Kingdom of Romania.
