Prietella
''Prietella'' is a small genus of North American freshwater catfishes found in Mexico and Texas, and restricted to underground waters. Taxonomy ''Prietella'' has been confirmed to be monophyletic and to be the sister group of the '' Noturus''. The karyotype of ''P. phreatophila'' is indistinguishable from one of the genus ''Noturus''; however, its diploid number of 50 chromosomes differs from the proposed ancestral ''Noturus'' karyotype of 54–56 chromosomes. However, this relationship has not been supported by preliminary mitochondrial DNA sequence data. Despite similarity to other cave-dwelling species of Ictaluridae, they are not closely related. Prietella Phreatophila
The Mexican blindcat (''Prietella phreatophila''), in Spanish ''bagre de muzquiz'', is a species of North American freshwater catfish (family Ictaluridae). Until recently, it was believed to be endemic to Coahuila in the Rio Bravo drainage in northern Mexico; however, in 2016 the species was reported from the Amistad National Recreation Area, Texas, following earlier, unconfirmed sightings of blind, white catfish in the area. The captured specimens were brought to the San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium. Description This fish is pinkish white in color and has no eyes. It grows up to in total length. The dorsal fin has no spine. Múzquiz Municipality
Múzquiz is one of the 38 municipalities of Coahuila, in north-eastern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Santa Rosa de Múzquiz. The municipality covers an area of . As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 62,710. Of these, 242 spoke an indigenous language, primarily Kickapoo and Nahuatl. It is named for Melchor Múzquiz, President of the Republic in 1832, born in Santa Rosa in 1790. Besides the seat, other towns of note include the coal mining town of Palaú (pop 16,000).
