Pinkerton (detective Agency)
Pinkerton is an American private investigation and security company established around 1850 in the United States by Scottish-born American cooper Allan Pinkerton and Chicago attorney Edward Rucker as the North-Western Police Agency, which later became Pinkerton & Co. and finally the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. At the height of its power from the 1870s to the 1890s, it was the largest private law enforcement organization in the world. It is currently a subsidiary of Swedish-based Securitas AB. Pinkerton became famous when he claimed to have foiled the Baltimore Plot to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln in 1861. Kathrene Pinkerton
Kathrene Pinkerton (June 9, 1887 – September 6, 1967) was a fiction and Non-fiction, nonfiction writer whose writings focused on life in the northern wilderness of Canada. Life Pinkerton was born Kathrene Sutherland Gedney on June 9, 1887, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Later, she went on to earn a BA at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, University of Wisconsin in 1909. Upon graduating, Pinkerton went on to conduct social work, focusing on tuberculosis outbreaks in rural Wisconsin. On March 24, 1911, she married Robert E. Pinkerton (1882–1970), also a writer. In 1912, the couple moved to the Northern Ontario, wilderness of northern Ontario. There, they built their own cabin and learned how to survive in a region where the nearest village was away and could only be reached by canoe in summer and by Dog sled, dogsled in winter. ''Pinkerton'' is the second studio album by the American rock band Weezer, released on September 24, 1996, by DGC Records. The guitarist and vocalist Rivers Cuomo wrote most of ''Pinkerton'' while studying at Harvard University, after abandoning plans for a rock opera, '' Songs from the Black Hole''. It was the last Weezer album to feature the bassist Matt Sharp, who left in 1998. To better capture their live sound, Weezer self-produced ''Pinkerton'', creating a darker, more abrasive album than their self-titled 1994 debut. Cuomo's lyrics express loneliness and disillusionment with the rock lifestyle. The title comes from the character BF Pinkerton from Giacomo Puccini's 1904 opera '' Madama Butterfly'', whom Cuomo described as an "asshole American sailor similar to a touring rock star". Percival "Pinky" Pinkerton is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character's first appearance was in '' Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos'' #8 (July 1964), in which he replaced Jonathan Junior Juniper who was killed in issue #4. He was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. William Pinkerton
William Pinkerton (1810–1893) was an early English settler in South Australia. He became a major rancher and landowner. He was known for violent retaliation in 1848 against a band of Nauo Aboriginals on his land who had killed one of his shepherds. It was known as the Waterloo Bay Massacre. History Pinkerton arrived in Adelaide, South Australia in 1838. By 1840, he had a considerable land holding called 'Studley' on the River Torrens, on which he was grazing sheep, cattle, horses and pigs. In 1843, Pinkerton took up land near Quorn. He also had land in the Light district, and on the Eyre Peninsula around Mount Wedge and Lake Newland. A number of places in South Australia bear Pinkerton's name - Pinkerton Plains and Pinkerton Flat in the Light district, and Pinkerton Creek near Quorn. Stuart Ian Pinkerton (born 25 March 1973) is an Australian former professional rugby union player. Born in Newcastle, Pinkerton is an old boy of Scots College and played his first-grade rugby with Randwick. Pinkerton was a permanent fixture in the NSW Waratahs back-row between 1997 and 2001.
