The Philippine Basketball Association All-Star Weekend is a series of events hosted by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Held in the middle of the PBA season, usually before or during the second conference, it consists of a variety of basketball events, exhibitions, and performances culminating in the All-Star Game An all-star game is an exhibition game that showcases the best players (the "stars") of a sports league. The exhibition is between two teams organized solely for the event, usually representing the league's teams based on region or division, bu ... held on Sunday night. No regular games are held during this period, which is also known as the All-Star break. Since 2017, the All-Star festivities were extended for a week, instead of starting it on a Friday. Kenneth Duremdes
Kenneth Celera Duremdes (born January 31, 1974) is a Filipino retired professional basketball player who currently serves as the commissioner of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Nicknamed as "Captain Marbel", Duremdes played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1995 to 2008. He is a six-time PBA champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP in 1998, and a former member of the Philippine national basketball team. Amateur career Duremdes played for Adamson University in the UAAP during the mid-90s and was touted as one of the future PBA superstars. He also played in the Philippine Basketball League where he had solid credentials. Paul John Dalistan Lee (born February 14, 1989) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Glenn Khobuntin
Glenn R. Khobuntin (born September 7, 1991) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the TNT Tropang 5G of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). High school career Khobuntin, a Cagayan de Oro native, studied high school at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran, where he was a star player for their junior varsity squad, the Letran Squires. The 2017 PBA All-Star Week was the annual all-star week of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)'s 2016–17 season which was on April 26 to 30, 2017 on three different venues covering Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The all-star week kicked off in Cagayan de Oro (Mindanao) on April 26, then was held in Lucena (Luzon) together with the skills challenge on April 28, then capped off on April 30 in Cebu City. Three PBA All-Star teams, one each with players representing Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao pitted against Gilas Pilipinas, the men's national basketball team. The Women's PBA (WPBA) 3x3 is a women's 3x3 basketball competition organized by the Philippine Basketball Association. History Following the promotion of the Philippine women's national team to Division I of the FIBA Asia Women's Championship due to their finish in the Division II tournament of the 2015 edition, the Philippine Basketball Association announced on September 24, 2015 that they would host a women's 3x3 tournament in the 2015–16 PBA season. Jericho Xavier Setubal Cruz (born October 11, 1990) is a Filipino-Guamanian professional basketball player for the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The 2016 PBA All-Star Weekend was the annual all-star weekend of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)'s 2015–16 season which was held on August 4–7, 2016 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City. The 2015 PBA All-Star Weekend, also known as the 2015 Smart-PBA All-Star for sponsorship reasons, was the annual all-star weekend of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)'s 2014–15 season.
