Pepperdine University () is a private university, private Christianity, Christian research university affiliated with the Churches of Christ, with its main campus in Los Angeles County, California, United States. George Pepperdine
George Pepperdine (; June 20, 1886 – July 31, 1962) was an American entrepreneur and Christian philanthropist who was the founder of Pepperdine University in California. Biography Early life George Pepperdine was born on June 20, 1886, on a farm in Mound Valley, Kansas, to a family of English heritage. His parents became members of the Churches of Christ after experiencing a powerful conversion during a tent meeting outside of Parsons, Kansas. Pepperdine graduated from Parsons Business College in Parsons, Kansas. Career In 1909, at the age of 23, he started Western Auto Supply Company in Kansas City, Missouri, with an initial investment of five dollars. With the increasing usage of the automobile, Pepperdine's business thrived, providing high-quality automotive products and services through many retail stores. He moved to California in 1916. Vicki Pepperdine
Vicki Pepperdine (born 24 July 1961) is an English comedy actress and writer. She was nominated for two BAFTA TV Awards for co-writing the BBC sitcom '' Getting On'' (2009–12), and was also nominated for a British Comedy Award for her portrayal of Pippa Moore in the series. Career Born in London, Pepperdine co-wrote and starred in the BBC Four sitcom '' Getting On'' with Jo Brand and Joanna Scanlan. Shared with Brand and Scanlan, she was nominated for two BAFTA TV Awards for Best Writing, and won two Writers' Guild of Great Britain awards, a Royal Television Society award and a British Comedy Award for her contributions to the show.
