Prince Albert, Saskatchewan
Prince Albert is the third-largest city in Saskatchewan, Canada, after Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan, Regina. It is situated near the centre of the province on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. The city is known as the "Gateway to the North" because it is the last major centre along the route to the resources of northern Saskatchewan. Prince Albert National Park is located north of the city and contains a wealth of lakes, forest, and wildlife. The city itself is located in a ecotone, transition zone between the aspen parkland and boreal forest biomes. Prince Albert is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Prince Albert No. 461, of which it is the seat, but is politically separate. Prince Albert City
Prince Albert was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. This constituency was one of 25 created for the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905 under the name Prince Albert City, distinguished from the more rural district of Prince Albert County. Renamed Prince Albert in 1917, the district was dissolved before the 1967 Saskatchewan election and divided into Prince Albert West (later "Prince Albert-Duck Lake") and Prince Albert East-Cumberland. It is now part of the constituencies of Prince Albert Northcote and Prince Albert Carlton. It was later reconstituted in 1975, and represented in the legislature until 1991, when the district became part of Prince Albert Carlton. John Ernest Bradshaw
John Ernest Bradshaw (December 13, 1866 – December 25, 1917) was an English-born businessman and politician in Saskatchewan. He represented Prince Albert City in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1908 to 1917 as a Provincial Rights Party and then Conservative member. He was born in Newport, Isle of Wight, the son of Robert Bradshaw, and is believed to have come to Canada with his family in 1880, settling in Toronto, Ontario. Bradshaw worked at a bank in Duluth, Minnesota and then joined the Hudson's Bay Company in Winnipeg. He was transferred to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan as a manager for the company. In 1894, Bradshaw married Agnes Thompson. In Prince Albert, he opened his own general store and established an insurance agency. Bradshaw served on the city council for Prince Albert and was mayor in 1906. Robert Boyer (July 20, 1948 – August 30, 2004) was a Canadian visual artist and university professor of aboriginal heritage. He was a Métis Cree artist known for his politically charged abstract paintings. John William Bower (né Kiszkan; November 8, 1924 – December 26, 2017) nicknamed "The China Wall", was a Canadians, Canadian ice hockey goaltender and inductee to the Hockey Hall of Fame, who won four Stanley Cups during his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Crater of Diamonds State Park is a Arkansas state park in Pike County, Arkansas, in the United States. The park features a plowed field, one of the few diamond-bearing sites accessible to the public. The Premier Rose Diamond () was one of the large rare gems produced by Premier Mine, of De Beers in South Africa. History The Premier Rose Diamond was mined in March 1978. It was purchased by Mouw Diamond Cutting in Johannesburg through a partnership with William Goldberg (diamond dealer), William Goldberg of New York City. The diamond was marked for bisection by Rose Mouw, the spouse of Jacob Mouw, the founder of Mouw Diamond Cutting. Cutting Frans Swanepoel was responsible for the sawing of the diamond and the cleaving of the lesser half of the diamond was done by Sylvain Mouw and Jacques Mouw. Mike Botha is a South African Canadian diamond cutter. Early life and education Michiel Josias Botha (born 1947) was raised in South Africa. Botha trained under David du Plessis, he received his cross-working apprenticeship diploma in 1970 in South Africa. He has also worked as the occupational certification officer for the diamond industry in the Northwest Territories under the Department of Education, Culture and Employment, and was also the technical consultant for the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment for their Government Diamond Certification Program.
