Pensoft Publishers Academic Journals
Pensoft Publishers (also known as: Pensoft) are a publishing, publisher of scientific literature based in Sofia, Bulgaria. Pensoft was founded in 1992, by two academics: Lyubomir Penev and Sergei Golovatch. It has published over 1000 academic and professional books and currently publishes over 60 peer review, peer-reviewed open access scientific journals including ''ZooKeys'', ''PhytoKeys'', ''Check List'', ''Comparative Cytogenetics'', ''Journal of Hymenoptera Research'', ''Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift'', and ''Zoosystematics and Evolution''. Pensoft is part of the open-access publishing movement. The Creative Commons Attribution License (Attribution (copyright), CC-BY) is used for all journal articles. A fossil (from Classical Latin , ) is any preserved remains, impression, or trace of any once-living thing from a past geological age. Examples include bones, shells, exoskeletons, stone imprints of animals or microbes, objects preserved in amber, hair, petrified wood and DNA remnants. ''Alpine Entomology'' is an open access peer-reviewed academic journal of entomology, published by Pensoft Publishers on behalf of the Swiss Entomological Society. History The journal was established in 1862 as ''Mitteilungen der Schweizerischen Entomologischen Gesellschaft '' (in German), ''Bulletin de la Société Entomologique Suisse'' (in French) and ''Journal of the Swiss Entomological Society'' (in English) by the Swiss Entomological Society. It published articles in German, French and later also in English. In the general assembly of the Swiss Entomological Society in March 2017 it was decided to rename the journal to ''Alpine Entomology'' and transfer the publishing to Pensoft Publishers. ''African Invertebrates'' is a peer-reviewed open access scientific journal that covers the taxonomy, systematics, biogeography, ecology, conservation, and palaeontology of Afrotropical invertebrates, whether terrestrial, freshwater, or marine. As from 2016, it is published by Pensoft Publishers on behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and the editor-in-chief is John M. Midgley (KwaZulu-Natal Museum). The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) is a free, online encyclopedia intended to document all of the 1.9 million living species known to science. It aggregates content to form "pages" for every known species. Content is compiled from existing trusted databases which are curated by experts and it calls on the assistance of non-experts throughout the world. It includes video, sound, images, graphics, information on characteristics, as well as text. In addition, the Encyclopedia incorporates species-related content from the Biodiversity Heritage Library, which digitizes millions of pages of printed literature from the world's major natural history libraries. The BHL digital content is indexed with the names of organisms using taxonomic indexing software developed by the Global Names project. Attribution (copyright)
Attribution, in copyright law, is acknowledgment as credit to the copyright holder or author of a work.
