Pakalomattam Family
The Pakalomattam family is an ancient Saint Thomas Christians family in Kerala, India. According to an article written by P. J. Thomas, Parakunnel, a member of the Parakkunnel-Pakalomattom family, in Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the family "solely supplied bishops and archdeacons to the Church in India till the beginning of the nineteenth century." Saint Thomas Christians
The Saint Thomas Christians, also called Syrian Christians of India, ''Marthoma Suriyani Nasrani'', ''Malankara Nasrani'', or ''Nasrani Mappila'', are an Ethnoreligious group, ethno-religious community of Indian Christians in the state of Kerala (Malabar region), who, for the most part, employ the East Syriac Rite, Eastern and West Syriac Rite, Western liturgical rites of Syriac Christianity. They trace their origins to the evangelistic activity of Thomas the Apostle in the 1st century. The Saint Thomas Christians had been historically a part of the hierarchy of the Church of the East but are now divided into several different Eastern Catholic Church, Eastern Catholic, Oriental Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodox, Protestantism, Protestant, and independent bodies, each with their own liturgies and traditions. Puthenkoor
The (, ) are the faction of the Saint Thomas Christian community in South India which remained unwilling to restore ties with the Catholic Church and the Pope, after the united community broke the Portuguese Catholic hegemony through the Coonan Cross Oath in 1653. They instead chose to align with the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch and organised themselves as the 'Malankara Church' under Archdeacon Thoma Parambil, thereby developing a long standing relationship with the Syriac Orthodox Church since 1665. Jacob Of Muttuchira
Jacob Pakalomattam (died 1596) was an Archdeacon of the Saint Thomas Christians, Saint Thomas Christian community in India in the years preceding the Synod of Diamper in 1599. He was a native of Muttuchira and belonged to the Pakalomattam family, Pakalomattam dynastic family. His activities were based in the Holy Ghost Forane church, Muttuchira, Church of Ruha d'Qudisha in Muttuchira. He owed his staunch allegiance to the traditionalist List of patriarchs of the Church of the East, Eliah Patriarchate of the Church of the East and Metropolitan Mar Shemon, who was sent to India by Patriarch Eliya VI, Eliya VI Barmama.
