Pacifica (, meaning "Peaceful") is a city in San Mateo County, California, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean between San Francisco and Half Moon Bay, California, Half Moon Bay. Overview The City of Pacifica is spread along a stretch of sandy coastal beaches and hills in north central California. The city comprises several small valleys spread between Sweeney Ridge in the east, Montara Mountain to the south, and the Pacific Ocean's rocky bluffs to the west. Pacifica is well known regionally as a popular surfing destination. Surfers and families often visit Pacifica State Beach, also known as Linda Mar Beach. Frontierland Park
Frontierland Park is a park in Pacifica, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. The park was built on a former-landfill and was named after a nearby closed theme park. Frontierland Amusement Park In the 1920s, 600 acres of the San Pedro Valley in present-day Pacifica were acquired by the wealthy Bernardi family of San Francisco through a syndicate arrangement. In 1960, a portion of the valley was opened as Frontierland Park, a western-themed amusement park, which sought to capture an Old West atmosphere. The park included a man-made lake, camping zones, equestrian facilities, a roping arena, a square dancing platform, and a frontier-style hotel with chuck wagon amenities. Frontierland provided activities like hayrides and stagecoach rides. Rockaway Beach is a shoreline area of the Pacific Ocean in the southern portion of Pacifica, California, United States, approximately south of the city of San Francisco. It is located within a gently curving embayment with direct access via Rockaway Beach Avenue and providing easy access to Highway 1. The beach itself is a popular place to visit with many restaurant and shopping venues although erosion has decreased its size over the years.
