Land Of Oz
The Land of Oz is a fantasy world introduced in the 1900 children's novel ''The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'' written by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by William Wallace Denslow, W. W. Denslow. Oz consists of four vast quadrants, the Gillikin Country in the north, Quadling Country in the south, Munchkin Country in the east, and Winkie Country in the west. Each province has its own ruler, but the realm itself has always been ruled by a single monarch. According to ''Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz'', the ruler has mostly either been named Oz or Ozma. According to ''The Marvelous Land of Oz'', the current monarch is Princess Ozma. Baum did not intend for ''The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'' to have any sequels, but it achieved greater popularity than any of the other fairylands he created, including the land of Merryland (Oz), Merryland in Baum's children's novel ''Dot and Tot of Merryland, Dot and Tot in Merryland'', written a year later. Oz (band)
Oz (styled as OZ) is a Finnish heavy metal band, originally from Nakkila, Finland. It was formed in 1977, split in 1991 and re-established 2010. Since 1983, OZ has been active mostly in Sweden as the band members moved to Stockholm after the release of their second album. In 2010, drummer Mark Ruffneck (born Pekka Mark), bassist and main songwriter Jay C. Blade (born Jukka Homi, but has changed his name to Jukka Lewis) and vocalist Ape De Martini (born Tapani Hämäläinen) re-formed the band, together with Costello Hautamäki and Markku Petander. As of 2016, OZ consists of four different members from Pori, Finland with Ruffneck being the original sole member. They made a splash with their 1983 album ''Fire in the Brain'', a NWOBHM-flavored energetic metal affair that won over critics and fans alike. ''Oz'' (a.k.a. ''Oz – A Rock 'n' Roll Road Movie'' also released as ''20th Century Oz'' in United States) is a 1976 Australian film written, directed and co-produced by Chris Löfvén. It stars Joy Dunstan, Graham Matters, Bruce Spence, Gary Waddell, and Robin Ramsay; and received four nominations at the 1977 AFI Awards. The musical score is by Ross Wilson (frontman for Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock). The plot is a re-imagining of the 1939 '' The Wizard of Oz'' film transferred to 1970s Australia and aimed at an older teen / young adult audience. "Liber OZ", also known as "Book 77", "The Book of the Goat", and "The Rights of Man" is a single-page declaration authored by the English occultist Aleister Crowley in 1941. This text, initially published as a leaflet or broadside, delineates the fundamental rights of individuals as viewed through the lens of Thelema, the spiritual and social movement which Crowley founded in the early 20th century. Thelema emphasizes the principle of individual will as its core tenet. Liber OZ is divided into five paragraphs, each addressing different aspects of human rights: moral, bodily, mental, sexual, and the right to safeguard freedoms, including the controversial assertion of the right to commit tyrannicide. ''Oz'' was an independently published, Alternative culture, alternative/underground press, underground magazine associated with the international counterculture of the 1960s. Editor Richard Neville (writer), Richard Neville first published the magazine in Sydney in 1963, launching a parallel version of ''Oz'' in London from 1967. In both Australia and the UK, the creators of ''Oz'' were prosecuted on charges of obscenity. A 1963 charge was dealt with expeditiously when, upon the advice of a solicitor, Neville and Sydney co-editors Richard Walsh (Australian publisher), Richard Walsh and Martin Sharp pleaded guilty. In two later trials, 1964 Australia and 1971 UK, the magazine's editors were acquitted on appeal, after initially being found guilty and sentenced to harsh jail terms.
