Houston Outlaws
The Houston Outlaws were an American professional ''Overwatch'' esports team based in Houston, Texas. The Outlaws competed in the Overwatch League (OWL) as a member of the league's West region. The Outlaws qualified for the season playoffs twice in their existence and reached the Grand Finals once, in 2023. Founded in 2017, Houston Outlaws was one of the league's twelve founding members and was one of two professional ''Overwatch'' teams based in Texas (the other, Dallas Fuel). The Outlaws were established by OpTic Gaming and were later acquired by Infinite Esports. Immortals Gaming Club (IGC) acquired Infinite Esports in 2019, marking the first change of ownership of an OWL franchise. However, IGC already had ownership of Los Angeles Valiant, and while the League allowed IGC to operate both teams, the league had set strict standards to keep the teams independent. Outlaws (formerly known as The Four Letter Words) is an American Southern rock band from Tampa, Florida. They are best known for their 1975 hit "There Goes Another Love Song" and extended guitar jam "Green Grass and High Tides" from their Outlaws (Outlaws album), 1975 debut album, plus their 1980 cover of the Stan Jones (songwriter), Stan Jones classic "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky". History Early years (1967–1974) Outlaws were formed in Tampa, Florida in 1967 by guitarists/vocalists Frank Guidry, Hughie Thomasson, Herbie Pino and Hobie O'Brien. ''Outlaws'' is a first-person shooter developed and published by LucasArts on April 7, 1997. Set in the Wild West, it follows retired U.S. Marshal James Anderson, who seeks to bring justice to a gang of criminals who killed his wife and kidnapped his daughter. It uses an enhanced version of the Jedi game engine, first seen in '' Star Wars: Dark Forces''. It is also largely credited as the first shooter game with a sniper zoom, as well as one of the first to feature a gun reloading mechanic. LucasArts' INSANE animation engine was used to render computer graphics animation sequences. The Outlaws were an English instrumental band that recorded in the early 1960s. One-time members included Chas Hodges (1943–2018), Bobby Graham (1940–2009), Ritchie Blackmore (born 1945), Mick Underwood (1945-2024), Reg Hawkins (born 1942), Billy Kuy (born 1940), Don Groom (born 1939), Roger Mingaye (born 1942), Ken Lundgren and Harvey Hinsley (born 1948). Career Their name was originally conceived by Joe Meek (born Robert George Meek in 1929), who needed a backing group for Mike Berry's "Set Me Free" in 1960, after, according to Meek biographer, John Repsch, Meek had fired Berry's original backing group, The Statesmen. ''Outlaws'' is an American science fiction Western television series which aired Saturday nights on CBS from December 28, 1986 until May 30, 1987. The original series began as a 2-hour pilot movie, and was followed by eleven one-hour episodes. Plot The story begins in Houston, Texas in 1899, as Sheriff Jonathan Grail tried to round up the villainous four-man Pike Gang, of which he had once been a member. After cornering the gang in a stormy Native American graveyard, a bolt of lightning struck all five men - transporting them 87 years forward in time to 1986. ''Outlaws'' is the debut studio album by American southern rock band Outlaws, released in 1975. The album is known for the rock classic "Green Grass & High Tides", which is considered by many to be one of the greatest guitar songs, plus the hit single "There Goes Another Love Song". Drawing influences from southern rock bands the Allman Brothers Band & Lynyrd Skynyrd, as well as folk rock and country rock bands such as the Byrds, Poco, Eagles, and New Riders of the Purple Sage, the band developed a unique, hard-driving country rock sound, due in part to the fast picking, quasi-country style guitar playing of Hughie Thomasson, coupled with their use of three and four part harmonies and incorporation of elements of bluegrass music. The Outlaws, also written as The Roundup:The Outlaws, () is a 2017 South Korean crime action film written and directed by Kang Yoon-sung, and starring Ma Dong-seok, and Yoon Kye-sang. It was released on October 3, 2017. Set in 2004, the film revolves around Detective Ma Seok-do, who tries to control the gang-wars between Korean Chinese in Korea, Chinese-Korean gangs while also dealing with a ruthless loan shark named Jang-Chen.
