The Orlando Predators were a professional arena football team based in Orlando, Florida and member of the Arena Football League (AFL). The team was most recently owned by Orlando Predators LLC, a company owned by David A. Siegel, and played its home games at Amway Center. The team was founded in as an expansion team of the AFL. The team advanced to the playoffs 19 consecutive seasons between and , becoming the ArenaBowl champions in 1998 and 2000 during that span. The team suspended operations after the 2016 season. The War on I–4 was a rivalry between the Tampa Bay Storm and the Orlando Predators in the Arena Football League. The teams met at least twice and up to four times a season starting in 1991, and both were consistently at the top of the league standings. ArenaBowl IX was the Arena Football League's ninth ArenaBowl. The game featured the #6 Orlando Predators (7-5) of the National Conference against the #1 Tampa Bay Storm (10-2), also of the National Conference. This would be the first ArenaBowl to have the "War on I-4" rivalry featured in it. For the Predators, this was their third ArenaBowl appearance in their first five years of existence (having lost ArenaBowls VI and VIII). Fran Papasedero
Fran Papasedero (March 21, 1969 – June 19, 2003) was an Arena football Player (game), player and Coach (sport), coach. Papasedero coached the Arena Football League (1987–2008), Arena Football League's Orlando Predators in the 2002 and 2003 seasons, having been appointed to replace Jay Gruden who wanted to resume his playing career at quarterback for the Predators. The Tampa Bay Storm were a professional arena football team based in Tampa, Florida, US. It played in the Arena Football League (AFL). Originally the team was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and operated as the Pittsburgh Gladiators. The franchise was one of the original four that launched the Arena Football League for its inaugural season in 1987. Jon David Gruden (born August 17, 1963) is an American football coach and media personality currently employed by Barstool Sports. After beginning his coaching career in the college ranks and working as a position coach and as an offensive coordinator in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles, he held his first head coaching position with the Raiders during their Oakland tenure from 1998 to 2001, where he won two consecutive division titles and made an AFC Championship Game appearance.
