Ohio Valley Wrestling
Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) is an American professional wrestling promotion, professional wrestling promotion and former developmental territory based in Louisville, Kentucky. The company is currently run by Al Snow, Matt Jones (radio host), Matt Jones, and Louisville mayor Craig Greenberg. OVW was initially a List of National Wrestling Alliance territories, member promotion of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) from its inception in 1993 until 2000, when it became the primary Farm team#Professional wrestling, developmental territory for the World Wrestling Federation, now known as WWE. It remained in this role from 2000 until February 7, 2008, when the promotion became Independent circuit, unaffiliated. Nightmare Danny Davis
Daniel Briley (born June 30, 1952), better known by the ring name "Nightmare" Danny Davis, is an American retired professional wrestler and Referee (professional wrestling), referee. He is the founder and former owner of Ohio Valley Wrestling. Career Briley started wrestling in 1977 in the Tennessee territory, where he made a name for himself as "Nightmare" Danny Davis. He would also wrestle as one half of the masked Masters of Terror in the United States Wrestling Association. Davis had a frequent tag team with Ken Wayne (wrestler), Ken Wayne in the 1980s. Hotpoint Davis Arena
Hotpoint Davis Arena, formerly known as Davis Arena, is an arena located in Louisville, Kentucky and is primarily used for professional wrestling. The arena is home to Ohio Valley Wrestling's television programming and acts as a school and training center to develop future wrestlers. The arena opened on September 4, 2002, after Ohio Valley Wrestling moved their operations from the original Davis Arena a month prior. In 2020, the Louisville-based band Drunk & Sailor would perform an empty arena concert to help raise funds for donations to help support both the band and the Ohio Valley Wrestling promotion. In July 2024, the arena was closed for upgrades and renovations which also included the addition of air conditioning to the facility. Nick Dinsmore
Nicholas David Dinsmore (born December 17, 1975), better known by his ring name Eugene, is an American professional wrestler. Dinsmore's career began in 1996 in Ohio Valley Wrestling, where he became the OVW Heavyweight Champion a record eight times as well as the OVW Southern Tag Team Champion eleven times. He is best known for his time in WWE from 2004 to 2007 under the ring name Eugene, where he portrayed an intellectually disabled wrestling savant. The ''Wrestling Observer Newsletter'' (''WON'') is a newsletter that covers professional wrestling and mixed martial arts. Founded in print in 1982 by Dave Meltzer, the ''Wrestling Observer'' website merged with Bryan Alvarez's ''Figure Four Weekly'' website in 2008, becoming ''Wrestling Observer Figure Four Online''. The newsletter is often considered the first "dirt sheet", which is a wrestling publication covering the art from a real-life perspective. OVW Heavyweight Championship
The OVW Heavyweight Championship is a professional wrestling World heavyweight championship owned by the Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) promotion. The original championship was designed and created in 1997 by Reggie Parks. The title was introduced on August 17, 1997, at an OVW live event, then known as the NWA-OVW Heavyweight Championship due to OVW's relationship with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) governing body. OVW eventually parted ways with the NWA in October 2001, and the title was renamed the OVW Heavyweight Championship. OVW later became a developmental territory for the World Wrestling Entertainment organization, but their partnership eventually ceased on February 7, 2008. The United States Wrestling Association (USWA) was a professional wrestling promotion based in Memphis, Tennessee. The company was founded when the Memphis-based Continental Wrestling Association merged with the Dallas-based World Class Championship Wrestling. History Foundation The USWA was founded as an attempt to create a fourth national promotion, alongside Jim Crockett Promotions/ WCW, AWA and the WWF (now known as WWE).
