The Ocala National Forest is the second largest nationally protected forest in the U.S. State of Florida. It covers of North Central Florida. Rodman Reservoir
Rodman Reservoir, or Lake Ocklawaha, is an artificial reservoir located on the Ocklawaha River in Putnam County and Marion County in north-central Florida. The reservoir, located about 15 miles southwest of Palatka, is approximately in length, covers and is located between State Road 19 on the east and State Road 315 on the west. It is also a premier largemouth bass fishery for Northeast Florida. Before the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers created the reservoir, they used a mammoth machine called thcrusher-crawlerto clear sections of the forest along the Ocklawaha's wooded riverbanks. Juniper Springs
Juniper Springs (referred to locally as "the Springs"), located in the Ocala National Forest east of Ocala, Florida, is a natural Spring (hydrosphere), spring that forms the headwaters of Juniper Creek that winds its way to Lake George (Florida), Lake George in the Saint Johns River. It is one of the oldest and best known recreation areas. Description The springs, set in a subtropical forest, are in an oval-shaped pool with limestone caves present on the bottom along with areas of sand and Aquatic plant, aquatic grasses. Juniper Prairie Wilderness
The Juniper Prairie Wilderness is a protected wilderness area in the Ocala National Forest in Florida, United States. Area description The Juniper Prairie Wilderness was established in 1984 and covers an area of about 54 square kilometers (13,260 acres). It protects a diverse set of habitats including prairie, Longleaf and Sand Pine scrub, marshes, subtropical palm jungles, swamp hardwoods, as well as sawgrass.
