Obasanjo Family
Chief Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Ogunboye Aremu Obasanjo (; ; born 5 March 1937) is a Nigerian former army general, politician and statesman who served as Nigeria's head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as its president from 1999 to 2007. Ideologically a Nigerian nationalist, he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 1998 to 2015, and since 2018. Born in the village of Ibogun-Olaogun to a farming family of the Owu branch of the Yoruba, Obasanjo was educated largely in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He joined the Nigerian Army and specialised in engineering and served in the Congo, Britain, and India, rising to the rank of Major. In the late 1960s, he played a major role in combating Biafran separatists during the Nigerian Civil War, accepting their surrender in 1970. Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style (manner of address), style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office and is held only during tenure of that office. The Federal Ministries of Nigeria are civil service departments that are responsible for delivering various government services. Each ministry is headed by a Permanent Secretary who reports to a Minister in the Cabinet of Nigeria, Federal Cabinet. Mons Officer Cadet School was a British military training establishment for officer cadets in Aldershot from 1942 to 1972, when it was closed and all officer training concentrated at Sandhurst. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello
Iyabo Obasanjo (born 27 April 1967) is a Nigerian academic, epidemiologist, and former senator. She is the daughter of former president of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo and his wife Oluremi Obasanjo. Early life and education Obasanjo attended Corona School in Victoria Island, Lagos, Capital School in Kaduna, and Queen's College in Lagos. She obtained a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Ibadan in 1988, a master's degree in epidemiology from University of California, Davis in Davis, California, United States, in 1990, and a PhD in the same subject from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, in 1994. Mojisola Adekunle-Obasanjo
Mojisola Adekunle-Obasanjo (10 August 1944 – 4 June 2009) was a Nigerian military officer and politician. She founded the Masses Movement of Nigeria (MMN) party in 1998, which she ran under as a candidate for the presidency in the 2003 elections, which she happened to be the only female contender on the ballot paper for the 2007 presidential elections. She was also the ex-wife of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo. Adekunle-Obasanjo died on 4 June 2009, at her daughter's residence at Ikoyi, Lagos after a brief illness. Stella Obasanjo (14 November 1945 – 23 October 2005) was the First Lady of Nigeria from 1999 until her death. Esther Oluremi Obasanjo also known as Mama Iyabo is a former Nigerian First Lady. She was previously married to President Olusegun Obasanjo. Biography Oluremi Akinlawon was the daughter of a station master and Mrs. Alice Akinlawon (nee Ogunlaja). She met Olusegun Obasanjo in the Owu Baptist Church Choir when she was aged 14 and they courted for eight years. Ogun State is a state in southwestern Nigeria. British Nigeria
Colonial Nigeria was ruled by the British Empire from the mid-nineteenth century until 1st of October 1960 when Nigeria achieved independence.
