Northern Paman Languages
The North Cape York Paman languages are a subdivision of the Paman languages consisting of forty languages, all spoken on the Cape York Peninsula of Queensland, Australia. The languages are grouped largely according to R. M. W. Dixon. The only extant branches of this family are Umpila language, Umpila and the Wik languages. Cape York Peninsula
The Cape York Peninsula is a peninsula located in Far North Queensland, Australia. It is the largest wilderness in northern Australia.Mittermeier, R.E. et al. (2002). Wilderness: Earth's last wild places. Mexico City: Agrupación Sierra Madre, S.C. The land is mostly flat and about half of the area is used for grazing cattle. The relatively undisturbed eucalyptus-wooded savannahs, tropical rainforests and other types of habitat are now recognised and preserved for their global environmental significance. Wuthati Dialect
Urradhi is a Paman language of the Cape York Peninsula of Queensland, Australia, and is apparently extinct. It forms a group of closely related and highly mutually intelligible dialects, these being Urradhi on the coast to the south-west, spoken by the Urradhi people; Angkamuthi to the west north of Urradhi; Utudhanamu inland north from Atampaya, Yantaykenu further north, being the language of the Bamaga area; Yadhaykenu on the east coast north of Wudhadhi; and Yaraytyana further north again. (Adyinuri/Itinadyana may have been another.) The language has no common name, though 'Urradhi' is commonly used as a cover term. Speakers of the Angkamuthi, Atambaya and Yadhaykanuuse dialects use the term to refer to their language. Andjingith Language
Andjingith is an extinct Australian Aboriginal language once spoken in Cape York in Queensland. The traditional language area of Andjingith includes the Aurukun Community Council and the Cook Shire. Awngthim Language
Awngthim is an Language death, extinct Australian Aboriginal languages, Australian Aboriginal language formerly spoken in Cape York Peninsula, Cape York in Queensland, Australia by the Winduwinda, Winduwinda people. The Awngthim language region includes the areas around Weipa and the Cook Shire. Name The name ''Awngthim'' is not a synonym of ''Anguthimri language, Anguthimri'', though due to their similarity they have sometimes been confused. Dialects Hale (1964) treats Awngthim as a cover term for dialects Ntrwa'ngayth , Thyanhngayth , and Mamngayth . ''-Ngayth'' is a suffix common to many tribal names of the area.
