The Northeastern Conference (NEC) is a high school athletic conference in District A of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. Schools In 2019, teams from Everett, Malden, Medford, Revere, and Somerville, left the NEC to rejoin the Greater Boston League The Greater Boston League (GBL) is a high school athletic conference in District B of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. The league originally included teams from the cities and towns of Arlington, Cambridge Cambridge ( ... (GBL). Revere's football team is scheduled to remain in the NEC until 2020. An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams which play competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller Division (sport), divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Winthrop High School is a public four-year high school in Winthrop, Massachusetts, United States. It is a part of Winthrop Public Schools. The current school building, with of space, had a cost of $80.2 million, with about $42.5 million or 60% of the costs covered by the Massachusetts School Building Authority. The building is shared with Winthrop Middle School. The first steel beams were put up in 2015 and opening was to occur in fall 2016. Swampscott () is a town in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States, located up the coast from Boston in an area known as the North Shore. The population was 15,111 as of the 2020 United States census. A former summer resort on Massachusetts Bay, Swampscott is today a fairly affluent residential community and includes the village of Beach Bluff, as well as part of the neighborhood of Clifton.
