No Limit Records
No Limit Records is an American record company founded by Master P. The label's albums were distributed by Priority Records, Universal and Koch Records. The label included artists such as Snoop Dogg, Mercedes, Silkk the Shocker, Mystikal, Mia X, Mac, C-Murder, Magic, Romeo Miller, Fiend, Kane & Abel, and Soulja Slim. Anthony Boswell, head of Bout It Bout It Management, served as the vice president of operations as well as head of management for the label. In the late nineties, No Limit Records enjoyed mainstream success with releases such as Master P's '' Ghetto D'', T.R.U.'s '' Tru 2 da Game'', and Snoop Dogg's '' Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told''. No Limit was known for quickly producing lengthy albums consisting of up to twenty tracks, numerous cameo appearances by the label's other artists, cheap packaging of its CDs in cardboard cases, and garish Pen & Pixel-designed album covers. Magic (rapper)
Awood Johnson Jr. (August 16, 1975March 1, 2013), better known by his stage name Magic (or Mr. Magic), was an American rapper from New Orleans, best known for his stint with No Limit Records in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Early life Born and raised in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana, Awood Johnson first made his name in New Orleans' underground circuit performing in talent shows and in a local group. Magic first appeared on C-Murder's songs "Picture Me" and "Watch Yo Enemies" on his 1998 album '' Life or Death''. He was signed to C-Murder's label Tru Records, a sublabel to No Limit Records. Sonya C
TRU (an abbreviation of The Real Untouchables) was an American hip hop group, with members from New Orleans, Louisiana and Richmond, California, active from 1989 to 2005. Between 1992 and 1997 the band dwindled from a dozen members to just the main three brothers, Master P, C-Murder, and Silkk the Shocker. The group released six albums, incorporating the typical No Limit formula of G-funk rhythms married to hardcore gangsta lyrics. History Master P, his brothers C-Murder and Silk, his wife Sonya C, King George, Fonzo, Calli G, Markest Banks, Daniel Fry, Big Ed, Daria Kelly, Ea-Ski and CMT were credited as The Real Untouchables when '' Understanding the Criminal Mind'' was released in 1992. Sons of Funk is an American R&B group and production group from Richmond, California, United States, that were formerly artists on No Limit Records. They had great success in the late 1990s and are best known for their hit singles "Pushin Inside You" and " I Got the Hook Up!". Music career 1997-98: ''The Game of Funk'' By 1997, Sons of Funk was signed to No Limit Records by Master P, who had ties to Richmond, California. Their first mainstream appearance was on the soundtrack to ''I'm Bout It'' on the single ''Pushin' Inside You'', which was also produced by the group. Skull Duggery (rapper)
Andrew Jordan (September 24, 1971 – June 4, 2022), better known as Skull Duggery, was an American rapper best known for his time spent with Master P's No Limit Records in the late 1990s. Skull Duggery made his first appearance on No Limit's 1995 compilation, '' Down South Hustlers: Bouncin' and Swingin''' on the song entitled "Darkside". About a year later, Master P released a trailer on Silkk the Shocker's first album '' The Shocker'' promoting Duggery's debut album, and setting the album's release date for September 24, 1996, but the release was pushed back to a week later. Skull Duggery released '' Hoodlum Fo' Life'' on October 1, 1996, under the alias Skull Dugrey, but the album failed to sell well, only peaking at #29 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #8 on the Top Heatseekers. Vyshonn King Miller (born June 18, 1975), better known by his stage name Silkk the Shocker (formerly Silkk), is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. The brother of Master P, Miller signed with his record label No Limit Records, an imprint of Priority Records to release his debut studio album, '' The Shocker'' (1996). Prime Suspects
Prime Suspects was an American rap group from the 3rd Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. The group was composed of Glock (also known as Gangsta T), New-9 (also known as Skinew) & Uzi (also known as E), and they were signed to Master P's No Limit Records. The group appeared on many of No Limit's releases including Master P's ''Ghetto D'' and Magic's '' Sky's the Limit'', among others. They released their debut album in late 1998 entitled, Guilty Til Proven Innocent, but it failed to live up to the success of some of No Limit's other albums, peaking at only #36 on the ''Billboard'' 200. The group disbanded shortly after (New-9 was a part of TRU Records during 2000-2002). Michael Lawrence Tyler (born September 22, 1970), better known by his stage name Mystikal, is an American rapper and actor from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is noted for brash, obstreperous vocal delivery, characterized by a Southern rasp.
