Neon Genesis Evangelion
, also known as ''Evangelion'' or ''Eva'', is a Japanese mecha anime television series produced by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production, and directed by Hideaki Anno. It was broadcast on TV Tokyo and its affiliates from October 1995 to March 1996. The story is set fifteen years after a worldwide cataclysm in the futuristic fortified city of Tokyo-3. The protagonist is Shinji Ikari, a teenage boy recruited by his father Gendo to the mysterious organization Nerv. Shinji must pilot an Evangelion, a giant biomechanical mecha, to fight beings known as Angels. The series explores the experiences and emotions of the Evangelion pilots and Nerv members as they battle Angels. They are called upon to understand the ultimate cause of events and the motives behind human action. Neon Genesis Evangelion (manga)
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto and published by Kadokawa Shoten. It began in ''Monthly Shōnen Ace'' in December 1994 and later moved to ''Young Ace'', finishing in June 2013. It consists of 14 volumes, each composed of several "stages" or chapters. It was initially released before the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, of the same name by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production and was originally intended as a companion adaptation to that of the TV series. Plot Sadamoto was the original character designer for the anime with Hideaki Anno as the supervisor and animated only part of the original anime for the purpose of writing the manga version. However, in the early days, he was involved in some way up to the sixth episode by coming up with ideas, and in the 24th episode he was the animation supervisor. is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ming Ming based on the ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' franchise. It was serialized in the shōjo manga magazine '' Monthly Asuka'' between 2007 and 2009, published by Kadokawa Shoten, and is also available in the PlayStation Store. It has been collected in four volumes. Many of the main characters from ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' return, including Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami, Kaworu Nagisa, Asuka Langley Soryu, Toji Suzuhara, Misato Katsuragi, and Kensuke Aida. Despite using the same characters, story, and setting, it differs from the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga. is a life simulation computer game based on the anime series, ''Neon Genesis Evangelion''. The player assumes control of both Shinji Ikari and Misato Katsuragi, the protagonists of the aforementioned anime series, to "raise" Shinji. This is done through making him complete a number of different tasks. ''Shinji Ikari Raising Project'' is the second and final entry in the ''Raising Project'' series of ''Evangelion'' games, preceded by '' Neon Genesis Evangelion: Ayanami Raising Project'' in 2001. Both games bear a strong similarity to publisher Gainax's ''Princess Maker'' series.
