National Central University
National Central University (; abbreviated NCU; ) is a public research university based in Taiwan. It was founded in 1902 in Nanjing; initially located in Miaoli after moving to Taiwan, it relocated to Zhongli in 1962 and developed into a comprehensive university. NCU is the first university in Taiwan to research industrial economics and economic development (Taiwan's Consumer Confidence Index is released monthly by NCU). NCU is a member of AACSB. NCU is one of the six national universities in research selected by the Ministry of Education, organized into eight colleges. Pha̍k-fa-sṳ
Pha̍k-fa-sṳ () is an orthography similar to Pe̍h-ōe-jī and used to write Hakka, a variety of Chinese. Hakka is a whole branch of Chinese, and Hakka dialects are not necessarily mutually intelligible with each other, considering the large geographical region. This article discusses a specific variety of Hakka. The orthography was invented by the Presbyterian church in the 19th century. The Hakka New Testament published in 1924 is written in this system. Writing system Pha̍k-fa-sṳ uses a modified Latin alphabet (an additional double-dotted ṳ for the close central unrounded vowel //) and some diacritics for tones. During Japanese colonial rule, school attendance for Taiwanese children increased from 3.8% in 1904 to 71.3% in 1943 and literacy in Taiwan became common. Lulin Observatory
The Lulin Observatory (, obs. code: D35) is an astronomical observatory operated by the Institute of Astronomy, National Central University in Taiwan. It is located at the summit of Mount Lulin in Xinyi Township, Nantou County. In 2007, Comet Lulin (C/2007 N3), was found by this observatory, and became the first comet discovered by a Taiwanese researcher. The minor planet 147918 Chiayi was also discovered here. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (Traditional Chinese: 臺灣桃園國際機場) is the main international airport serving Taiwan, particularly the northern region and Taipei. Located in Dayuan, Taoyuan, approximately west of Taipei, the airport is the busiest and largest in Taiwan. In 2016, it was ranked the best airport for its size in the Asia-Pacific region by Airports Council International. Zhongli Railway Station
Zhongli () is a railway station in Taoyuan, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. It is the third-busiest station in Taiwan's rail network. It is also a planned terminus for Taoyuan Airport MRT of the Taoyuan Metro, scheduled for completion in 2028. This station is currently at ground level and construction is ongoing to replace it underground as a part of Taoyuan Metropolitan Area Railway Underground Project which is scheduled to be completed in September 2030. A proposed cross-platform interchange project for Green line and Airport MRT is set to be constructed under Zhongli Station. The station layout will be composed of two island platform, between which a connecting zone set to integrated the two into a single "large platform". Miaoli is a county (Taiwan), county in western Taiwan. Miaoli is bordered by Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City to the north, Taichung to the south, and the Taiwan Strait to the west.
