NK Maribor Players
NK Maribor, Nogometni klub Maribor is an association football club from Maribor, Slovenia. The club was founded in 1960 and joined the Football Association of Yugoslavia the same year. It remained a member until Slovenia gained its independence in 1991, when the club joined the Football Association of Slovenia. Maribor are one of only three Slovenian teams who participated in the Yugoslav highest division, the Yugoslav First League, between the end of the Second World War in 1945 and the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991. Apart from winning the Yugoslav Yugoslav Second League, second division once and the Slovenian Republic Football League, third division five times, they had no success during the Yugoslav period; the closest they came to winning a major trophy was in the 1967–68 season, when they reached the semi-finals of the Yugoslav Cup. Etien Velikonja (born 26 December 1988) is a Slovenian footballer who plays as a forward for Kras Repen. Club career Gorica Velikonja started to play football at Gorica. Coming through their youth system, he was promoted to the senior squad in 2006–07. In his first season, he took part in seven matches, scoring one goal. Next year, during the 2007–08 season, Velikonja played 31 matches, scoring five goals. Nastja Čeh (born 26 January 1978) is a Slovenian retired professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Čeh started his career with his hometown club Drava Ptuj. By the age of 17 he was playing in the first team in the 2. SNL. In the 1996–97 season he moved from Drava to Maribor, later spending one season at Olimpija before returning to Maribor. Čeh then moved on to Club Brugge. His first season at the club brought success in the Belgian Cup, and the following season he helped the club win their 12th league title. In August 2002 he scored a late equalising goal in the second-leg of Brugge's Champions League third round qualifying tie against Shakhtar Donetsk.
