Mwaro Province
Mwaro Province is one of the 19 provinces of Burundi. Its capital is Mwaro. Mwaro Province one of two provinces that were created in 1999 as a result of splitting the Muramvya Province; the other province retained the name of Muramvya. Location Mwaro Province is in the center of western Burundi. It is south of Muramvya Province, east of Gitega Province, north of Bururi Province and east of Bujumbura Rural Province Bujumbura Rural Province is one of the eighteen provinces of Burundi. Former President Cyprien Ntaryamira was born here. It surrounds the former national capital Bujumbura and its provincial capital is Isale (commune), Isale. Location Bujumbura .... Burundi is divided into eighteen provinces, each named after their respective Capital (political), capital with the exception of Bujumbura Rural. History The Belgian colonial administration created provinces in Burundi on September 26, 1960, to replace chiefdoms as part of a series of administrative reforms. There were 18: Bubanza, Bukirasazi, Bururi, Cankuzo, Cibitoke, Karuzi, Kayanza, Kitega, Kirundo, Makamba, Muhinga, Muramvya, Mwaro, Mwisale, Ngozi, Ruyigi, Rutana, and Usumbura. The Constitution of the Kingdom of Burundi, 1962 constitution of the Kingdom of Burundi provided for eight provinces: Bubanza, Bukirasazi, Bururi, Gitega, Muramvya, Muyinga, Ngozi, and Ruyigi.
