Municipalities Of Guerrero
Guerrero is a state in Southwest Mexico that is divided into 85 municipalities. According to the 2020 Mexican census, Guerrero is the 13th most populous state with inhabitants and the 14th largest by land area spanning . Municipalities in Guerrero are administratively autonomous of the state according to the 115th article of the 1917 Constitution. Every three years, citizens elect a municipal president (Spanish: ''presidente municipal'') by a plurality voting system who heads a concurrently elected municipal council (''ayuntamiento'') responsible for providing all the public services for their constituents. The municipal council consists of a variable number of trustees and councillors (''regidores y síndicos''). Municipalities are responsible for public services (such as water and sewerage), street lighting, public safety, traffic, and the maintenance of public parks, gardens and cemeteries. Guerrero, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Guerrero, is one of the 32 states that compose the administrative divisions of Mexico, 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided into Municipalities of Guerrero, 85 municipalities. The state has a population of about 3.5 million people. It is located in southwest Mexico and is bordered by the states of Michoacán to the north and west, the State of Mexico and Morelos to the north, Puebla to the northeast and Oaxaca to the east. In addition to the capital city, Chilpancingo and the largest city Acapulco, other cities in Guerrero include Petatlán, Ciudad Altamirano, Guerrero, Ciudad Altamirano, Taxco, Iguala, Ixtapa, and Zihuatanejo. Today, it is home to a number of indigenous communities, including the Nahuas, Mixtecs, Tlapanec people, Tlapanecs, Amuzgos, and formerly Cuitlatec people, Cuitlatecs.
