Muar District
The Muar District is a district in Johor, Malaysia. Muar is located at the mouth of the Muar River, on the coast of the Straits of Malacca. The Muar District covers , with a population of 233,779 (2010). History The district was formerly divided administratively into Bandar Maharani municipality and Tangkak township. Upon upgrade of Tangkak sub-district to full-fledged Tangkak District (initially Ledang), Bandar Maharani is now administered by Muar Municipal Council (formerly South Muar Town Council, later Muar Town Council) under the Muar District Office, while Tangkak of Ledang is administered by Tangkak Town Council (formerly North Muar Town Council) under the Tangkak (formerly Ledang) District Office. A new administration hub and transportation hub integrated with bus terminal and market called Maharani Sentral are being planned to be built at the location near Muar Bypass in between Jalan Haji Kosai and Jalan Temenggung. Jawi Script
Jawi (; ace, Jawoë; Kelantan-Pattani: ''Yawi''; ) is a writing system used for writing several languages of Southeast Asia, such as Acehnese, Banjarese, Kerinci, Maguindanaon, Malay, Minangkabau, Tausūg, and Ternate. Jawi is based on the Arabic script, consisting of all of the original 31 Arabic letters, and six additional letters constructed to fit the phonemes native to Malay, and an additional phoneme used in foreign loanwords, but not found in Classical Arabic, which are ''ca'' ( ), ''nga'' ( ), ''pa'' ( ), ''ga'' ( ), ''va'' ( ), and ''nya'' ( ). Jawi was developed from the advent of Islam in the Maritime Southeast Asia, supplanting the earlier Brahmic scripts used during Hindu-Buddhist era. The oldest evidence of Jawi writing can be found on the 14th century Terengganu Inscription Stone, recorded in Classical Malay language that contains a mixture of Malay, Sanskrit and Arabic vocabularies. Tangkak District
The Tangkak District is a district in western Johor, Malaysia, bordering Malacca to the west. The district also shares a 2 kilometre border with Negeri Sembilan to the northwest. The district capital and largest city is Tangkak Town. Geography The district covers Tangkak town, Tanjung Agas, Kesang, Sungai Mati, Serom, Sagil and Bukit Gambir.. History The district was previously an autonomous sub-district (daerah kecil) covering the north-western part of the Muar District, separated from Muar Town proper by the Muar River. A ceremony headed by the sultan on 9 June 2008 saw the official proclamation of that part becoming Johor's 10th district, then named Ledang District after the eponymous mountain located within its borders. Panchor
Panchor (est. pop.: 5,000) is a small town in Muar District, Johor, Malaysia, located next to Muar River. Panchor was formerly a bustling river port where agricultural and plantation produce, (e.g. rice, palm oil, rubber latex) from the interior are loaded downriver on barges. However, as the road networks began to improve in the 1970s, which culminated with the construction of the North–South Expressway in the 1980s, Panchor declined in importance as barge river traffic decreased sharply. Bukit Pasir ( Jawi: بوكيت ڤاسير; ) is a small town in Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. Chinese is the majority ethnic group in this town and follow by Malays and Indians. Bukit Pasir is a small town between Muar and Pagoh. It is about from Muar Town. Besides that, it located in a vital communication line for Muar to go to Pagoh, Panchor, Lenga and Bukit Kepong. Furthermore, it is only away from the North-South Expressway, Pagoh Toll Exit. You may pass through this town from Muar along the route J32 to go to Labis or turn to route 1 to Segamat. Pagoh
Pagoh is a suburb in Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. Pagoh is accessible via one of the main interchanges on the North–South Expressway, the major expressway on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. There are several federal government institutions in that town, including Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) and Malaysian National Service Nasuha Camp. Education Primary education is provided by several primary schools in Pagoh. One example is SJKC (national type Chinese school) Soon Mong which is approximately 50 years old. One of the secondary schools in Pagoh is SMK Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah I (SARS1), named after the sultan of Malacca who died in Pagoh.
