Muaither () is a district of Al Rayyan (city), Al Rayyan City in Qatar, located in the municipalities of Qatar, municipality of Al Rayyan. Etymology Referencing the area's geography, 'muaither' is derived from the Arabic language, Arabic 'mathar', meaning "place where animals are kept". Muaither is situated in a Depression (geology), rawda (depression), meaning that water runoff accumulates in it, leading to increased plant activity. Various perennials such as the Vachellia tortilis, samr tree and Foeniculum vulgare, fennel grow here. As such, the area serves as a good grazing area for Bedouins rearing their livestock. Qatar
Qatar, officially the State of Qatar, is a country in West Asia. Muaither SC
Muaither SC () is a multi-sports club based in Muaither, Qatar. It is best known for its Association football, football department, which plays in the Qatari Second Division. History 1996–2013: Second division The club was founded in 1996 as "Al Shabab". It changed its name to "Al Muaither" in 2004 by decision of the Qatar Olympic Committee. They played exclusively in the Qatari Second Division until 2013. Their first promotion play-off was in the 1999–00 season against Al Shamal SC, Al Shamal, losing the match. This was the first promotion play-off to ever take place in Qatar. In 2004, Muaither became the first team in history from the second division to win the Sheikh Jassem Cup. Green Line (Doha Metro)
The Green Line, also known as the Education Line, is a rapid transit line of the Doha Metro in Qatar's capital city of Doha. Opened to the public on 10 December 2019, it runs east to west, beginning at Al Mansoura (Doha), Al Mansoura and terminating at the Al Riffa station on Dukhan Highway in Rawdat Al Jahhaniya. Qatar Post (formerly Q-Post) is the national provider of postal services in Qatar. Its headquarters building, the General Post Office, has been on the Doha Corniche since 1988. The company was established in 1950 as the General Postal Corporation and the country's first post office opened in Doha that same year. At first, in compliance with treaty obligations, British stamps were in use. These were issued in Indian rupee denominations with QATAR over-printed in English. The first date-stamp was used for registered letters at Doha Post Office on 17 May 1953. Additional post offices were opened at Dukhan in 1956 and at Umm Said in 1960. Qatari Municipal Elections, 2015
Municipal elections in Qatar were held for the fifth time on 13 May 2015. Five women contested the polls as candidates. Two women were elected to the Central Municipal Council (CMC) after winning their constituencies, heralding the first time two women have occupied seats in the council. This round of elections witnessed the merging of a number of depopulated constituencies and the addition of several new constituencies. Early indications suggested that the voter turnout would be low. However, the voter turnout in various constituencies ranged from 51% to 87%, with an overall voter turnout of 70%. This was a marked increase from the 43% voter turnout in the 2011 elections. The total number of voters was 21,735. There were 109 candidates. Central Municipal Council
The first municipal council in Qatar was formed in the early 1950s and it was reorganized in 1956. Doha Municipality, Doha municipality came into being in May 1963. The Ministry of Municipal Affairs was established in 1972 as a government body responsible for supervising the functions of municipalities. Decree No 4 for 1963 organized, for the first time, the election and appointment of the members of the municipal council. Law No 11 for 1963 followed. It stipulated that the municipal council is formed by a decree and that the appointment of the members is based on the nomination of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture. The first joint meeting of municipal councils in the country was held in 1983. ''Vachellia tortilis'', widely known as ''Acacia tortilis'' but now attributed to the genus ''Vachellia'' of the Mimosa Family ( Mimosaceae), is the umbrella thorn acacia, also known as umbrella thorn and Israeli babool, a medium to large canopied tree native to most of Africa, primarily to the savanna and Sahel of Africa (especially the Somali peninsula and Sudan), but also occurring in the Middle East.
