Moloko Songs
Moloko () were an English-Irish electronic music duo formed in Sheffield, England, consisting of vocalist Róisín Murphy and producer Mark Brydon. Blending elements of electronica and dance music, they are best known for their UK top 10 singles " The Time Is Now" (2000) and "Familiar Feeling" (2003) as well as the 1999 Boris Dlugosch remix of "Sing It Back", which became an international hit. History Formation and success (1994–2000) Murphy had no prior professional singing experience when Moloko was formed, while Brydon had previously worked on music as a producer with musicians such as Boy George and Cabaret Voltaire on releases from the 1990s. Mark Brydon
Mark Errington Brydon (born 22 December 1960) is an English bassist, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, recording engineer, remixer and producer best known as a member of the group Moloko. Previous work Brydon comes from Sunderland, England, but established himself in the Sheffield music scene, most notably with the funk band Chakk whose advance from MCA Records financed the building of FON Studios. Before its bankruptcy, Brydon had divested himself of his interests in legendary FON Studios, for which he did everything from designing the studio architecture to hand-choosing equipment. He made significant contributions to the 1987 British pop hit "House Arrest" by Krush. He furthered his career with contributions to records and remixes such as " The Funky Worm" (whose single " Hustle! Sing It Back
"Sing It Back" is a song written and performed by Irish-English electronic music duo Moloko ( Róisín Murphy and Mark Brydon). It first appeared in its original version on Moloko's second album, '' I Am Not a Doctor'' (1998); it was released as a single on 8 March 1999, reaching number 45 on the UK Singles Chart. The song experienced chart success after it was remixed by DJ Boris Dlugosch, peaking at number four in the UK in September 1999. Murphy had started writing the lyrics while clubbing in New York City, and knew the song was at heart a dance track, but the group wanted to record it in a different artistic fashion for its album version. Together with their record company they commissioned mixes by Todd Terry (who had turned Everything But the Girl's " Missing" into an international hit). Pulp (band)
Pulp are a British rock band formed in Sheffield in 1978. At their critical and commercial peak, the band consisted of Jarvis Cocker (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Russell Senior (guitar, violin), Candida Doyle (keyboards), Nick Banks (drums, percussion), Steve Mackey (bass) and Mark Webber (guitar, keyboards). The band's " kitchen sink drama" lyrics, coupled with its references to British culture, led to Cocker and Pulp becoming reluctant figureheads of the Britpop movement. ''Do You Like My Tight Sweater?'' is the debut album by electronic dance duo Moloko, released in October 1995 in the UK and Australia, while being released in March 1997 in the US. It was reported by ''Billboard'' in 1996 that total sales had reached 100,000 copies. As of 2003 it has sold over 250,000 copies worldwide. The album's first single, "Fun for Me", was used on the soundtrack of the 1997 film '' Batman and Robin'', and was used as the theme for a Lucky Strike advertisement in Spain. The video, "Fun for Me" was inspired by ''Batman & Robin'' and directed by Bill Fishman. Echo Records
The Echo Label was a British record label started by Chrysalis Group in 1994, and linked with Pony Canyon in Japan. The Chrysalis Group were the original owners of Chrysalis Records, which they sold to EMI. In 2005, The Echo Label recorded a loss of over £2.0 million. The decision was taken to restructure the business at the beginning of the 2006 financial year, into an "incubator" for developing writer-artists with the intention of "upstreaming" them to a major label. The signings which resulted from this included Bat for Lashes, Steven Lindsay, Rosalie Deighton, Jacob Golden and Sarabeth Tucek. ''A Clockwork Orange'' is a dystopian satirical black comedy novel by English writer Anthony Burgess, published on March 17, 1962. It is set in a near-future society that has a youth subculture of extreme violence. The teenage protagonist, Alex, narrates his violent exploits and his experiences with state authorities intent on reforming him. The book is partially written in a Russian-influenced argot called " Nadsat", which takes its name from the Russian suffix that is equivalent to '-teen' in English. Anthony Burgess
John Anthony Burgess Wilson, (; 25 February 1917 – 22 November 1993) who published under the name Anthony Burgess, was an English writer and composer. Although Burgess was primarily a comic writer, his Utopian and dystopian fiction, dystopian satire ''A Clockwork Orange (novel), A Clockwork Orange'' remains his best-known novel.
