Jesse Jackson Millsaps
Jesse Jackson Millsaps (March 26, 1827 – January 9, 1900) was an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War, a farmer, and a state legislator who served in the Arkansas House of Representatives representing Van Buren County, Arkansas in 1868 and 1885. Millsaps was a member of the 1868 Arkansas Constitutional Convention, where he was listed as a 41 year old farmer who had been in Arkansas for eight years. He was also a member of the 1868 General Assembly where he was a representative for the 4th district. In 1873 he was justice of the peace in Van Buren County. He and other 1885 House representatives and officers were included in a composite photograph, where according to the captioning he was 57 and had been in Arkansas for 24 years, originally from North Carolina, was a Methodist, his post office was in Copeland, Arkansas, and he was a Republican. Roger Millsap
Roger Ellis Millsap (November 18, 1954 – May 9, 2014) was an American psychometrician known for his research on measurement invariance. Millsap was born on November 18, 1954, in Olympia, Washington. He was the only child of Max Ellis Millsap, who was a general manager for the Olympia Oil and Wood company, and Lillian Rogers Millsap (née Turner), an executive director of two chapters of the Red Cross. He received his BS degree from the University of Washington in 1977, followed by an MA in statistics and a PhD in quantitative psychology. He received both of his advanced degrees in 1983 from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was supervised by Bill Meredith. After receiving his PhD, Millsap taught industrial/organizational psychology at Baruch College until 1997, where he eventually became a full professor. Paul Millsap (born February 10, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player who played for 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A power forward from Louisiana Tech University, Millsap was selected by the Utah Jazz in the second round (47th overall) of the 2006 NBA draft and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. He played in Utah until 2013, when he became a member of the Atlanta Hawks. Millsap has also played for the Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets, and Philadelphia 76ers. He is a four-time NBA All-Star. The Millsaps Majors is the nickname for the sports teams of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and their colors are purple and white. They participate in the NCAA's Division III and the Southern Athletic Association. Millsaps College
Millsaps College is a Private college, private Liberal arts colleges in the United States, liberal arts college in Jackson, Mississippi. It was founded in 1890 and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. History The college was founded in 1889–90 by a Confederate States of America, Confederate veteran, Major Reuben Webster Millsaps, who donated the land for the college and $50,000. William Belton Murrah was the college's first president, and Bishop Charles Betts Galloway of the Methodist Episcopal Church South organized the college's early fund-raising efforts. Both men were honored with halls named in their honor. Major Millsaps and his wife are interred in a tomb near the center of campus.
