Detroit Public Library Main Branch
The Main Branch is the headquarters of the Detroit Public Library, Detroit Public Library System in Detroit, Michigan. It is located in Detroit's Midtown Detroit, Midtown neighborhood, between M-1 (Michigan highway), Woodward Avenue and Cass Avenue. Designed by Cass Gilbert, the Main Branch was constructed with Vermont marble and serpentine Italian marble trim in an Renaissance Revival architecture, Italian Renaissance style. His son, Cass Gilbert Jr. was a partner with Francis Keally in the design of the library's additional wings added in 1963. Detroit Historical Museum
The Detroit Historical Museum is located at 5401 Woodward Avenue in the city's Cultural Center Historic District in Midtown Detroit. It chronicles the history of the Detroit area from cobblestone streets, 19th century stores, the auto assembly line, toy trains, fur trading from the 18th century, and much more.
