Meril-Prothom Alo Awards
The ''Meril-Prothom Alo Awards'', or simply ''Prothom Alo Awards'', is an annual Bangladeshi awards ceremony honouring cinematic achievements in Cinema of Bangladesh, Bangladeshi Film Industry. The awards are divided into two components, Viewers' Choice and Critics' Choice. The awards were first presented in 1998 and since then the awards are given every year at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center. Meril-Prothom Alo Awards receive the highest number of viewers among Bangladesh's awards ceremonies. The awards are considered Bangladeshi equivalent to The Oscars. History Meril Prothom Alo Awards were first awarded in 1998. The awards ceremony was organised and held by Bangladesh's largest newspaper Daily Prothom Alo and Square Group, Square Toiletries Limited. ''Prothom Alo'' () is a Bengali language, Bengali-language daily newspaper in Bangladesh, published from Dhaka. It is one of the largest circulated newspaper in Bangladesh. According to the National Media Survey of 2018, conducted by Kantar MRB Bangladesh, ''Prothom Alo'' has a daily readership of more than 6.6 million online. According to Alexa Internet, an American web traffic analysis company, the online portal of ''Prothom Alo'' is the most visited Website, Bengali website in the world. Priya Amar Priya
(; ) is a 2008 Bangladeshi romantic-action film. The film was directed by Badiul Alam Khokon and produced by Monir Hossain under the banner of Asha Production. The film is a remake of the 2002 Indian Kannada-language film '' Appu'', which was later remade in Telugu as ''Idiot'' (2002), in Tamil as '' Dum'' (2003) and in Bengali as ''Hero'' (2006). It was the second Kannada film remade film in Bangladeshi Bengali after M. S. Rajashekar's ''Anuraga Aralithu'' starring Dr. Rajkumar, Madhavi and Geetha. The film revolve around a careless college student Hridoy (played by Shakib Khan) who fall in love with city's commissioner sister Priya (played by Sahara). Abu Taher Mohammad Shamsuzzaman (; 10 September 1941 – 20 February 2021), was a Bangladeshi film and television actor, director and screen-playwright. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2015 by the Government of Bangladesh. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards five times for his roles in ''Dayee Ke?''
