Galloway
Galloway ( ; ; ) is a region in southwestern Scotland comprising the counties of Scotland, historic counties of Wigtownshire and Kirkcudbrightshire. It is administered as part of the council areas of Scotland, council area of Dumfries and Galloway. Galloway is bounded by sea to the west and south, the Galloway Hills to the north, and the River Nith to the east; the border between Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtownshire is marked by the River Cree. The de Birmingham family (or de Bermingham) held the Lord of the Manor, lordship of the Manorialism, manor of Birmingham in England for four hundred years and managed its growth from a small village into a thriving market town. Alexander Crow McGeorge
Alexander Crow McGeorge (4 August 1868 – 14 January 1953) was a New Zealand engineer and gold dredging entrepreneur, contributing to the Otago gold rush of the 1890s. Biography McGeorge was born in Dunedin on 4 August 1868 to Scottish parents, James McGeorge and Isabella Crow. McGeorge, along with his brothers John Crow and Joseph founded the Electric Gold Dredging Company in 1895, one of the most successful gold-dredging companies in New Zealand. McGeorge's mother, Isabella Crow, and sister, Jane, were both signatories of the 1893 Women's Suffrage Petition. The McGeorge brothers' most famous gold dredge was the ''Lady Ranfurly'', named by the governor of New Zealand of the day, Uchter Knox, 5th Earl of Ranfurly, after his own wife on a visit to Cromwell on 12 March 1898. Harvey John "Jack" McGeorge II (September 29, 1949 – August 18, 2009) was a Marine, a Secret Service Specialist, and a munitions analyst for the U.N. Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC), as well as being a frequently recognized regional leader for BDSM advocacy and education. In 2000, on the strength of his published work and demonstrated expertise, McGeorge was offered the opportunity to defend his knowledge of the weaponization of biological and chemical agents before a panel of the Academic Council of the State Research Institute for Organic Chemistry and Technology in Moscow, for which he was awarded an honorary doctorate degree. Jerry McGeorge
Jerry McGeorge (born October 22, 1945, Cincinnati, Ohio, United States) came to prominence in late 1965 as an American guitarist with the Chicago rock music, rock band The Shadows of Knight. He later joined the psychedelic rock band H.P. Lovecraft (rock group), H.P. Lovecraft on bass guitar, bass in the summer of 1967, appearing on their debut album, ''H. P. Lovecraft (album), H. P. Lovecraft''. Early life McGeorge began playing guitar in 1961. His early guitar influences included Scotty Moore, James Burton, Chet Atkins, Charlie Byrd, Les Paul, and the Brazilian Bossa Nova artist, Laurindo Almeida. The roots revival, folk music revival of the early 1960s was also influential, but, like many young Americans at the time he became most heavily influenced by the first Beatles-led British Invasion. Lee McGeorge Durrell
Lee McGeorge Durrell (née McGeorge; born September 7, 1949) is an American naturalist, author, zookeeper, and television presenter. She is best known for her work at the Jersey Zoological Park in the British Channel Island of Jersey with her late husband, Gerald Durrell, and for co-authoring books with him. Biography Lee was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and showed an interest in wildlife as a child. She studied philosophy at Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia before enrolling in 1971 for a graduate programme at Duke University, to study animal behaviour. She conducted research for her PhD on the calls of mammals and birds in Madagascar. She met Gerald Durrell when he gave a lecture at Duke University in 1977, and married him in 1979. Richard Eugene McGeorge (born September 14, 1948) is an American former professional football player who was a tight end for nine seasons with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). McGeorge "Mac" Bundy (March 30, 1919 – September 16, 1996) was an American academic who served as the U.S. National Security Advisor to Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson from 1961 through 1966. He was president of the Ford Foundation from 1966 through 1979. Despite his career as a foreign-policy intellectual, educator, and philanthropist, he is best remembered as one of the chief architects of the United States' escalation of the Vietnam War during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. After World War II, during which Bundy served as an intelligence officer, in 1949 he was selected for the Council on Foreign Relations.
