The mayor of Minneapolis is the chief executive officer of the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota, responsible for overseeing the city's administration. As the political and ceremonial leader of the city, the mayor also represents Minneapolis on the state, national, and international levels. The mayor's office is located in the Minneapolis City Hall. Jacob Lawrence Frey ( ; born July 23, 1981) is an American politician and attorney who has served as the mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota since 2018. George Alfred Pillsbury (August 29, 1816 – July 17, 1898) was a businessman and miller associated with the formation of the Pillsbury Company. He was also a Republican Party (United States), Republican politician active in both New Hampshire and Minnesota. Alonzo Cooper Rand
Alonzo Cooper Rand (December 31, 1831 – July 12, 1885) was an innovator in the petroleum industry and the 11th mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Life and career Rand was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1831 to Charles T. Rand and Deborah F. Rand (née Sprague). As a child he moved to Buffalo, New York where he attended school before going to college at the nearby Gowanda Institute. In September 1853 he married Celine M. Johnson. Rand soon became involved in the oil industry, patenting a unique process for oil refining. He moved around New England and later to Aurora, Illinois perfecting his technique and eventually becoming quite wealthy from it. John De Laittre
John De Laittre (March 5, 1832 – September 19, 1912) was a businessman and the 10th mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Early life De Laittre was born in 1832 to Charles De Laittre and Rosalie Levalle Desisles. As a child he helped with work on the family farm and attended local schools. After turning 18, he worked for several years on fishing boats operating in the Bay of Fundy and Straits of Belle Isle. In 1852, he decided to move to California, arriving in San Francisco, California later that year and making his way to Murphys, California to prospect for gold with an old friend. Albert Alonzo "Doc" Ames (January 18, 1842 – November 16, 1911) was an American physician and politician who held four non-consecutive terms as mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota. His fourth term was marked by multiple prosecutions for political corruption, extortion, and racketeering in a scandal which was publicized nationwide by muckraking journalist Lincoln Steffens in a 1903 article in McClure's Magazine titled ''The Shame of Minneapolis.''
