Marymount Colleges
The Marymount Colleges are a group of colleges founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM), an institute with French origins which was founded on February 24, 1849. When the institution expanded to the United States, its members founded a series of parochial schools, called the RSHM Network of Schools, with the name "Marymount". United States New York Of the American colleges founded by RSHM, Marymount College, Tarrytown, was founded first, on December 8, 1907, founded by Johanna Butler. Marymount School, a women's Catholic high school in Manhattan, was founded in 1926. In 1936, an extension of Marymount College, Tarrytown, was formed in Manhattan. It later became the co-educational college now known as Marymount Manhattan College. The original Marymount College, Tarrytown, was consolidated with Fordham University. Marymount College (Kansas)
Marymount College was a four-year liberal arts college located in Salina, Kansas that opened in 1922 as a women's college. It was operated by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia, Kansas. The original college was a three-story building that overlooked the Smoky Hill River. The single building on its campus dominated the eastern edge of the city. The school was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission in 1932. In the 1950s and 1960s, two dormitories and a Fine Arts building were erected. The three dormitories on campus housed 350 resident students. Marymount became coeducational in 1968, which met with mixed reactions from students and faculty. A multi-purpose physical education building was erected in 1971. Basketball coach Ken Cochran was hired for the 1970-71 year and two years after Marymount had begun to admit male full-time students. Marymount MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Circle MRT line, Circle line in Bishan, Singapore. Marymount International School Paris in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France is an international school in the Paris metropolitan area and is part of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary network of Marymount schools. The history of Marymount Paris can be traced back to 1846 when Father Jean Gailhac founded an order of Sisters in Béziers in the south of France. Marymount Military Academy was a boys' military school in Tacoma, Washington that was in operation first as a military academy, then as a private boys' school from 1923 to 1976. History Marymount was purchased in 1919 by the Sisters of Saint Dominic, St. Dominic on the outskirts of Tacoma (known as the Tacoma Dominicans), Washington in present-day Parkland. The remote plot on which it stands was bought from the Shields family in 1920. The property was known as ''"Wright's Acre Tracts",'' owned by the people who built Annie Wright School. Marymount College, Tarrytown (also known as Marymount College of Fordham University) was a women's college in the United States which eventually became part of Fordham University. The Marymount campus was located in Tarrytown, New York. The last class graduated in 2007, and the campus was sold in 2008.
