Maryland National Guard
The Maryland Military Department (MMD) is a department of the State of Maryland directed by the adjutant general of Maryland. The Maryland Military Department consists of the: *State Operations section, which manages fiscal and administrative duties * Maryland Army National Guard * Maryland Air National Guard * Maryland Defense Force * Maryland Emergency Management Agency The MMD's mission is to provide supplemental services to the Maryland National Guard with the governor of Maryland as its commander-in-chief. The Maryland Military Department is also the command authority for the defunct Maryland Naval Militia as well as the Maryland Militia, divided into the Organized Militia, personified in the Maryland Defense Force, as well as the obsolete Unorganized Militia. The Maryland Air National Guard (MD ANG) is the aerial militia of the U.S. state of Maryland, and a reserve component of the United States Air Force. Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM). is the department of the Maryland state government with primary responsibility and authority for emergency preparedness policy, and for coordinating hazard mitigation, incident response, and disaster recovery.
