Bulgarian Language
Bulgarian (; , ) is an Eastern South Slavic, Eastern South Slavic language spoken in Southeast Europe, primarily in Bulgaria. It is the language of the Bulgarians. Along with the closely related Macedonian language (collectively forming the East South Slavic languages), it is a member of the Balkan sprachbund and South Slavic languages, South Slavic dialect continuum of the Indo-European language family. The two languages have several characteristics that set them apart from all other Slavic languages, including the elimination of grammatical case, case declension, the development of a suffixed definite article, and the lack of a verb infinitive. Rimma Markova
Rimma Vasilievna Markova (; 3 March 1925 – 15 January 2015) was a Russian film actress. She was named a People's Artist of Russia in 1994, whereas her younger brother Leonid Markov was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1985. During her childhood from 1931 through 1934, Markova played minor roles in Saratov Dramatic Theatre, where her father was working. In 1945–1947, Rimma Markova studied at the school affiliated with the Vologda Dramatic Theatre with her brother Leonid. She appeared in small but memorable parts in numerous Soviet films. Georgi Markov (weightlifter)
Georgi Markov (, born 12 March 1978 in Burgas) is a retired male weightlifter from Bulgaria. He won the silver medal in the men's lightweight division (– 69 kg) at the 2000 Summer Olympics, behind compatriot Galabin Boevski. He set one world record in the lightweight snatch in 2000. He was named the BTA Best Balkan Athlete of the Year in 2002. Georgi Markov (footballer)
Georgi Slavev Markov (; 20 January 1972 – 18 February 2018) was a Bulgarian footballer who played as a defender. He was known as a tough, but generally fair tackler, and was nicknamed the "Börner Grater". Career Markov was born in Gotse Delchev, near the border with Greece. His career began at the local club Pirin, but he was only 21 when he moved to the very successful Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv. He played for Botev in the Bulgarian A PFG between 1993 and 1996. In June 1996 Georgi moved to Lokomotiv Sofia. After that he played for Levski Sofia, Turkish Trabzonspor and Greek side Ergotelis. Signed again with Lokomotiv Sofia in 2006. Between 1999 and 2005, Georgi Markov played in 36 matches for Bulgaria. He scored his only goal for Bulgaria on 9 June 1999 in the 1:1 home draw against England in a Euro 2000 qualifier. Dmitri Markov (; born 14 March 1975 in Vitebsk, Byelorussian SSR) is a retired Belarusian-Australian pole vaulter. He is a former world champion and current Oceanian record holder. His gold medal winning jump at the 2001 World Championships made him the third person ever ( of seven, as of 2021) to clear . Danny Markov
Daniil Yevgenyevich Markov (; born 30 July 1976) is a Russian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played a nine-year career in the National Hockey League. He also played 11 seasons in the top tier Russian leagues. Playing career As a youth, Markov played in the 1990 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Moscow. Markov began his career in 1993, playing for HC Spartak Moscow in Russia. The Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL drafted him in the 9th round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Andrei Viktorovich Markov (; born 20 December 1978) is a Russians, Russian-Canadians, Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Nicknamed "the General", Markov formerly played from 2000 to 2017 with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). He holds both Russian and Canadian citizenship. Playing career Markov was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the sixth round, 162nd overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. After being considered one of the best defencemen in Russia in 2000, he came over to North America and split time with the Canadiens and their then-minor league affiliate, the Quebec Citadelles of the American Hockey League (AHL).
