Macrosiphum Rosae
''Macrosiphum rosae'', the rose aphid, is a species of sap-sucking Aphidoidea, aphids in the subfamily Aphidinae. They have a world-wide distribution and infest rosebushes as the main host in spring and early summer, congregating on the tips of shoots and around new buds. Later in the summer, winged forms move to other rose bushes, or to a limited number of secondary hosts, before returning to rosebushes to lay eggs in the autumn. Description Wingless adults have a spindle-shaped body and are between long, slender, varying in colour from green to pink and reddish-brown. The antennae and legs are relatively long, and the cauda (tail-like protrusion) is pale. The siphunculi (pair of small backward-pointing tubes on the abdomen) are long, tapered and black, which distinguishes this aphid from ''Metopolophium dirhodum'', the rose-grain aphid, which has pale siphunculi. Winged individuals are between in length, varying from green to pinkish-brown, and having distinctive black lateral ...

Aphid
Aphids are small sap-sucking insects in the Taxonomic rank, family Aphididae. Common names include greenfly and blackfly, although individuals within a species can vary widely in color. The group includes the fluffy white Eriosomatinae, woolly aphids. A typical life cycle involves flightless females giving Viviparity, live birth to female Nymph (biology), nymphs—who may also be already Pregnancy, pregnant, an adaptation scientists call telescoping generations—without the involvement of males. Developmental biology, Maturing rapidly, females breed profusely so that the number of these insects multiplies quickly. Alate, Winged females may develop later in the season, allowing the insects to colonize new plants. In Temperate climate, temperate regions, a phase of sexual reproduction occurs in the autumn, with the insects often overwintering as eggs. The life cycle of some species involves an alternation between two species of host plants, for example between an annual crop and ...

Aphidinae
Aphidinae is an aphid subfamily in the family Aphididae. Many species of aphids spread potyviruses and most are from the subfamily Aphidinae (genera ''Macrosiphum'' and ''Myzus''). Most have alternative hosts, the primary host plant is usually a tree, and the secondary one is herbaceous. See also * List of Aphidinae genera References External links
