Rachel Zawadi Luttrell (born 19 January 1971) is a Tanzanian-born Canadian actress best known for her role as Teyla Emmagan in ''Stargate Atlantis'' (2004–2009). Early life Luttrell was born 19 January 1971, in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, the daughter of Veronica Makihio Shenkunde Luttrell of the Washambala tribe of the Usambara Mountains, and Dr. William Leon Luttrell from Bossier City, Louisiana. Simon Luttrell (Irish MP)
Simon Luttrell (1643 – 28 October 1698) was an Irish Jacobite politician and soldier. Biography Luttrell was the eldest son of Thomas Luttrell of Luttrellstown and Barbara Sedgrave. He was the elder brother of Henry Luttrell. Like his brother, he spent much of his early life in France, including at the French court at the Palace of Versailles. On his return to Ireland in 1672, he married Catherine, daughter of Sir Thomas Newcomen, 5th Baronet. In 1674 he succeeded to his father's extensive estates in County Dublin. In 1687, Luttrell was appointed Lord Lieutenant of County Dublin and made a member of the Privy Council of Ireland by the Earl of Tyrconnell. Henry Luttrell (Jacobite Commander)
Henry Luttrell (c. 1655 – 22 October 1717) was an Irish army officer known for his service in the Jacobitism, Jacobite cause. A career soldier, Luttrell served James II of England, James II in England until his overthrow in 1688. In Ireland he continued to fight for James, reaching the rank of General in the Irish Army (Kingdom of Ireland), Irish Army. After it was revealed in 1691 that he was in secret contact with enemy commanders he was tried and imprisoned. Following the Treaty of Limerick he was pardoned by the Williamite rulers of Ireland. He was rewarded with the estate of Luttrellstown Castle, Luttrellstown which had been confiscated from his elder brother Simon Luttrell (Irish MP), Simon Luttrell. Although he sought a military command in the forces of William III of England this was denied him. In 1717 Luttrell was murdered in Dublin, in a case that was never solved. Sir Thomas Luttrell (born before 1490 – died 1554 ) was a wealthy Anglo-Irish landowner of the sixteenth-century Irish Pale. He was also a distinguished lawyer and judge who held the offices of King's Serjeant, Solicitor General for Ireland and Chief Justice of the Irish Common Pleas. Simon Luttrell, 1st Earl of Carhampton ( – 14 January 1787) was a British politician who sat in the House of Commons of Great Britain from 1754 to 1780. Biography He was the second son of Henry Luttrell, of Luttrellstown (whose family had held Luttrellstown since the land there had been granted to Sir Geoffrey de Luterel in about 1210 by King John of England) and his wife Elizabeth Jones. His father had been a noted commander in the Jacobite Irish Army between 1689 and 1691. He later received a pardon from the Williamite authorities and was accused by his former Jacobite comrades of having betrayed them. He was murdered when his sedan chair was attacked in Dublin in 1717. Edward Sydney "Sidney" Luttrell (20 June 1872 – 17 July 1932) and his brother Alfred Edward Luttrell (1865–1924) were partners of S. & A. Luttrell, a firm of architects and building contractors noted for its contributions to New Zealand architecture, both in terms of style and technology. The practice was established in Launceston, Tasmania in 1897 when Alfred who was operating his own architectural practice, went into partnership with his younger brother and former apprentice Sidney, under the original name A. & S.
