Loma is an Unincorporated area, unincorporated town, post office, and census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Mesa County, Colorado, Mesa County, Colorado, United States. At the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the population of the Loma CDP was 1,314. History The name "Loma" is derived from a Spanish word meaning "small hill". The area was first inhabited by the Ute people, who had left by 1881. In 1882, the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad completed a narrow-gauge railroad through Loma. A standard-gauge track was installed in 1890. Homesteaders began arriving in Loma in the late 1880s. Loma Records
Loma Records was an American subsidiary record label of Warner Bros. Records managed by Bob Krasnow, and later by Russ Regan. Its name was derived from Eloma, a cleared copyright Warner owned. History In March 1964, Warner Bros. president Mike Maitland announced the formation of Loma Records. Former promotional man and record producer Bob Krasnow was named the manager of the new label. Maitland explained the purpose of Loma was "an attempt to broaden singles coverage. There's so much product available through outside source, that we can afford to release it on Warner Bros., Reprise and now Loma." The first releases on the label were purchased masters. Suphisara Konlak () (born January 18, 1996), known professionally as Loma Lookboonmee (), is a Thai martial artist who has competed in Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts. In boxing she has fought under the names Kanda Por Muangpetch () and Kanda Kokietgym (). She currently competes in the women’s Strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), being the first Thai fighter to sign with the organization. Loma, Montana
Loma is a census-designated place (CDP) in Chouteau County, Montana, United States. The population was 85 at the 2010 census. History James Kipp, of the American Fur Company founded the first community here in 1831. The Blackfeet laid siege to the fort, and inhabitants quickly abandoned the site. The next year, the American Fur Company established another trading post, Fort McKenzie, a few miles upstream of the old site. During the 1860s, businessmen built a townsite near the confluence of the Marias and the Missouri rivers, called Ophir. On May 25, 1865, the Blackfeet killed 10 men in the developing town. Loma People
The Loma people, sometimes called Loghoma, Looma, Lorma or Toma, are a West African ethnic group living primarily in mountainous, sparsely populated regions near the border between Guinea and Liberia. Their population was estimated at 330,000 in the two countries in 2010. They are closely related to the Mende people. The Loma speak a language in the Southwestern branch of the Mande languages, belonging to the Niger-Congo family of languages. The language is similar to the Kpelle, Mende, Vai, and Bandi languages. The Loma refer to their language as Löömàgòòi , or Löghömàgòòi in Guinea. They refer to themselves as Löömàgìtì , or Löghömagiti in Guinea.
